South Beach Diet -- Phase 1.5, Day 12 -- a very busy day!
Friday, April 04, 2014
It's nearly 11:30pm and my day is finally over. It's been a great day, but a very long, busy one. We had a field trip today to the Fire Department. My kids absolutely LOVED IT. They got to go inside three different fire trucks, see how the suit goes on, and participate in a "rescue." Then a fireman let us climb onto this "old timey" fire truck and he took our picture. They gave each kid a little red fire helmet to take home, one they can actually wear on their heads. They were SO excited, and so adorable, all wearing their little helmets for the rest of the day, while they played around the classroom. Geez, they were too cute!
Parts of work were kind of stressful. I have plenty of good co-workers, but there are some real doozies, too. Some of them are just so inconsiderate and rude, and there's no other way to put it. I won't get into all that, but it was kind of a pain today having to deal with those people.
After work, I went to pick up our tickets for tonight from will call. Then I went to the library to renew some books. Then I ran into the grocery store to pick up just a few things...which ended up costing $52...ack. Anyway. I came home, made a super-fast dinner (heated up turkey burgers and fries in the oven for Husband and Daughter, and portobello pizzas for me) and we sat down at the table. After dinner, we took quick showers and got ready to go out. I enjoyed a nice glass of red wine while I did my hair and makeup. We went to an AMAZING concert tonight. We saw two outstanding Bluegrass bands. I'm a Southern girl, born and raised, and I grew up in (and currently live in) the Appalachian Mountains. Bluegrass music makes my heart smile. Both bands played for over an hour each, and then they all came on stage together and played. It was a fabulous concert. Ten men singing, all playing these instruments as if their lives depended on it. It was sensational. I can't believe our tickets were only $10 each. The whole show lasted three and half hours, and including Daughter's drink and candy she bought, we only spent $36. It was COMPLETELY worth every cent.
So we are tucked in bed and I'm pooped. Here's my run-down for today:
Breakfast: egg & cheese omelet, almond milk.
Lunch: rotisserie chicken and green beans, apple, string cheese.
Snack: 100 calorie pack of dry-roasted almonds, cottage cheese, crunchy peanut butter, one glass of red wine.
Dinner: one portobello pizza (cheese, homemade pizza sauce, turkey pepperoni, green olives on one portobello mushroom cap), diet caffeine-free Coke.
Activity: none...rest day.
I'm looking forward to the weekend ahead. I don't really have anything planned, and I like it that way. The less I do on the weekends means the more I can recharge my batteries. I'm looking forward to my special Saturday morning time: just me, a cup of coffee, the newspaper, Pinterest, just relaxing and enjoying some peace and quiet.
