Sorry I was not onsite for a few weeks.

I had some great things happen and some thing that kept me from exercising for over 1 1/2 weeks. I had a great birthday on 3/21, hubby was off work for the first time in ages. He gave me $100 to spend anyway I wanted. He took me to breakfast but I only ate half of everything and took the rest home to our son. Jeff didn't finish all of his breakfast either so Frank had a nice breakfast surprise. Jeff dropped me off after breakfast up the street at our local Skechers warehouse store. I purchased 2 pairs of what I thought were very comfortable shoes. Buy one get one for 1/2 price and I decided to wear a pair out for my afternoon walk with Phred. Halfway through the walk I knew I was in trouble and getting blisters on my heels. Ouch, the right side was pretty bad and I suffered until just a few days ago.
The next day was Sat. the 22nd and I was to meet up with my sister Doreen (lives in Hemet, CA) and she was picking up my friend Sandy (Lake Elsinor, CA) and I was bringing my friend Rosa to a place called Tom's Farm in Corona, CA. Now it really use to be a farm years ago and has been in the same place for as long as I can remember on the way to Lake Elsinor. Now everything has grown around it with homes and a big super mall. But they still have fresh produce in their Farmers Market and they have a number of pretty cool stores (furniture, wine shop, etc.). On weekends they have concerts outdoors, train rides and magic shows for the kids, Along with an area for locals to sell their wears. I purchased a couple of pretty cool hippie/Mexican type blouses for $22 each. I had a lot of trouble walking around because of the blisters.
I could not hardly put a pair of shoes on for the next week and my heels just did not get better for the better part of the week. Jeff didn't want me walking because we were going to our yearly trip up to Santa Anita Race track on the 29th and he knows I like to walk around when we are there. The day was beautiful for the races and even though I didn't win a lot of races, I did pretty good on the 2 race I did win on. I won $21.20 on a on a Box Exacta in the 4th, and $147 on a Box Exacta in the 5th. Jeff always gives me $100 to use for the day as I see fit. Our group always has a "guess how many beans" in a jelly bean jar. For 20 years I have never won or come close. I won this year another $40 and was only 15 beans away from the correct amount. All in all, it was a pretty good birthday.
I am back walking but our weather had been so weird, warm one day, then rain and cool the next. Then of course we had the earthquake that hit in La Habra, we live near the border of Fullerton/Anaheim and LH is the city just north of Fullerton. Was pretty good infrastructure damage in both LH & Fullerton, street pipes bursting, lots of things falling off shelf's and such. Just another earthquake for us, we did shake a lot but so use to them that I don't get too stressed out by them. Ok that's about it. Love to all of my dear friends.

I sure hate you had such a bad experience with your Skechers! I love mine! I have a pair on right now with the memory foam. I don't think I ever got a blister on my heel(s), but have gotten them on my toes when I wore them without socks! Oh wait, I did have a pair that caused blisters on my heels and they went to Goodwill! Sounds like a lovely birthday, what, week? Happpy Belated! Glad you had such an awesome time except for the stupid blisters! I bet it takes longer for you to heal as it does me due to my diabetes. So much fun with lower immunities, ay? Stay helthy! Hope your second pair will work better for you!

What a nice birthday surprise for you and your son! Happy Belated Birthday!! emoticon So sorry about your blisters. Ouch! I have to wear special wide, roomy toed shoes because of having sore RA feet and they've been worse these last couple of weeks for some reason, so I know how sore one can be with walking. It takes alot of the fun out of it, doesn't it?! As far as earthquakes, I'll never forget the one that I was in, when I was little and not even in school yet in Seattle back in the 60's! I walked with my sister a couple of blocks to her school and when I was walking back I heard a car start up that was right beside me and I looked in it, and there was noone in it and I ran home as fast as I could! That was scary! When I got home, Mom and Grandma were hanging onto each other in the kitchen! I must've been about 5, I suppose!! Take care and I'm glad you're safe and get those feet better and better!! emoticon Karen

Sorry to hear about the blisters from the shoes :( Were you allowed to return them since they weren't suitable for your feet?
That is an awesome birthday! Way to go with the wins!!
I have never been in a earthquake, and would never want to be. The trade off of a very cold climate and long winters is not too many natural disasters. I can't imagine what it would be like knowing that the 'big one' could happen any time for those living near the San Andreas fault. Scary stuff!
Enjoy your weekend, have fun!

Boy, aren't those blisters on the feet terrible?!?! I got a huge one on the bottom of both feet a couple yrs. ago with walking for an hr. and a half at the fair. So now I use a cart to get around at large activities like a big fair. Still walk with other activities. Sounds like you had a very profitable day!! Good for you!! I'm not sure I would be able to live in your area with all the quakes going on. i have been in 2 mild ones in the midwest which are very rare but the fault is said to be bigger than the San Andreas. I haven't heard of the one that shook you this time though. Hope you didn't have any damage. Take care and love to you, dear friend.
