I Don't Want Them!

Friday, April 04, 2014

Yesterday I briefly---very briefly--toyed with the idea of eating some sweets. And I spent the rest of the day feeling very good that I had ignored the impulse.

And I woke up feeling good this morning.

I have established--and I am on a streak--a hierarchy of eating (not counting regular meals): If I have an impulse to eat I must go through carrots, an apple, celery sticks, and THEN think about it. These "high-mastication" snacks get me through those moments of temptation.

I'm really lucky in that my DH keeps many of those things cut up in the frig and I can always grap an apple too. It really does work. If I want something a bit more substantial I add a little bit of raw cashew butter (it has become one of my very favorite things and I think can be eaten on almost any freggie LOL).

Great plan! I try to always keep healthy snacks at hand and when I'm out running errands I've discovered that the apple slices at McDonalds are often just what I need to ward off a sweets craving.

Excellent! I do the same sort of thing when I'm thirsty. First I have to drink a large glass of water before I can have a diet drink or a cup of tea.

I like how you 'coined' the phrase 'high mastication' ............ Good-super good strategy and it is affirming to be proud of yourself! emoticon

Great strategy! Good for you! I often find just drinking a tall glass of water slowly -- does it for me too. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
