NSV (taking back my ME time)

Sunday, March 30, 2014

I am really proud of myself for taking charge of my life!

Work has been really stressful and when I saw I wasn't on the schedule for five days my husband and I decided to take a little vacation without using vacation time. Sadly everywhere we wanted to go there were bad storms so we decided we would do a vacation around the area where we live instead but be total tourists about it. I REALLY needed the time off. I happened to mention to my boss as I was leaving Tuesday (and I even stayed late to tie up all the loose ends) that we were stuck here but would still treat it like a real vacation. So, what does he do? He calls me at 9pm on a Sunday night to see if I can come to work on Monday (still part of my time off) because one of my co-workers is sick. While I feel badly that she is sick I am still kind of annoyed. I am sure he knew since this morning since she would never call this late. I also know he knows how much I was looking forward to this time off. Just because I am not using vacation time does not mean you can call me in! I am so tired of constantly being called at the last minute. I am not a surgeon!! I am not on duty! Anyway, that said, I told him that while I was still in town I had already made other "vacation" plans since I was still due one more day off. I really don't feel badly. He wanted me to just come in for an hour. Seriously?? I live way out on the other side of town! It will take me nearly that long just to get to work and back!!

I normally would have caved, but not this time! I am really proud of myself!!
