I've put in over 300 miles on the bike trainer this year, but today it was finally warm enough--and the roads were clear enough of ice--that I could ride outside. I took a 13.5 mile ride because that's all the time I had available to me. It's a good ride--eight climbs, eight descents, enough hard stuff to test my level of fitness, and enough easy stuff to make me feel like a kid again!
In fact, at one point, I passed a teenager and he asked if I wanted to race. I said, "Let's go" He sized me up and said, "You win!" Good to know that the youngsters know that this old fart can kick their butt on a bike!
Anyway, it was so good to be outside again. It's supposed to be cold again over the next few days, but then warm next weekend. So I will put my eyes on that prize and look forward to being on the road again in a few days.
