Driving home I had a little time to reflect on this weekend.
It was so good to see everyone and meet new folks as well as meeting people I only knew from SP. There was a lot of positive things exchanged and I loved some of the exchanges I have with some people I know well, even though they have have had challenges in the past year.
The conversations were very personal, and I am clearly not going to share much of them. However, there are some bullet points I would like to share.
- noone is alone in their journey. Find one person to support you. Develop a strategy to work with that person. One example that came up this weekend was developing a buddy report system. to have accountability to someone. Not competition - but accountability.
- when you set goals - set achievable goals ... if you have 'fallen off' working out start out gentle - i.e. 10 min/day for x days - and then 11 min for x days ... 12 min for x days .. you see the trend.
It is not only about working out and losing weight. As someone who does coaching and I talked about - it is to be in balance as well. Think meditation, yoga, reading, spiritual nourishment etc etc. ... one suggestion I provided was create a goal of going to the movies with three friends in three months. Call the three friends and set a date - you are less likely to bail when you are doing it with someone. By doing it - two goals be accomplished - the initiative and setting the date.
Although the author is a 5 times Ironman - I would HIGHLY SUGGEST the book 'fit soul - fit body' by Mark Allen. I will highly recommend this book to anyone of my SP friends.
Just a couple of thoughts.
