Today's assignment is to list all the reasons you want to lose weight. What do you want to change? How do you want to look? How do you want to feel? What things will you be able to do in the future with a slimmer healthier body? And list all the OTHER things that you want to change!
At this stage in my weight loss, my reasons are basically just to get down to a healthy BMI. I feel really good at the weight I am now, but still ought to lose about 10 more pounds to get into the healthy range. Mostly I feel like I'm in pretty good shape, but I would like to get into training for a 10K (so I'll need more endurance) and I want to feel stronger, so I've been focusing more on Pilates and strength training than I had in the past.
Doing the elliptical at the gym for the first time in about a year really humbled me-I barely lasted five minutes. I know I could have pushed myself a little longer, but I was already tired from an intense run and the motivation wasn't there. That machine made itself my enemy, and now it is my mission to defeat it.
I bought a bikini a month ago, it is super cute. It was a size or two down from what I normally get, but more importantly it is the first bikini I have ever worn. I never would have had the confidence before to even try one on. Anyway, my goal is to be a little more toned before I wear it in public.
I also bought a new bike. I was a little sad because I was too short for the prettier bikes they had (seriously, who knew 2" makes the difference between girls bikes and ladies?) but I love the style, and I want to lose weight and get in better shape so I can enjoy riding it around the neighborhood when the weather gets nice, like when I was a kid, as opposed to it feeling like work, like it did a year ago.
Basically, I want to look more toned, I want to feel more in shape, I want to run a 10 K and ride a bike with ease, and I want to murder that stupid elliptical machine, but I'll settle for lasting a half hour on it.
