OOOOh what a mess. Yep just when you think you're on track, you're really off.

Okay I get in my 45-50 grams of fiber, eating losts of veggies and fruit. Fish 3-4 days a week, meat 1x, yams 3x's. I should be 10 pounds lighter RIGHT? Heck no! All I did was maintain my weight. But, lost inches. Now that's okay for maintaining...but How do I lose? I went over my diet with my doctor. I have a journal (thank you Sparkpeople)

This is what he said:
You need to add starchy vegetables. Use more oilve oil 3-4 TABLESPOONS PER DAY!!!???
Eat egg whites 3-4 times a week for more protein. Add xtra virgin first cold press olive oil on all foods. Eat a nut butter with your fruits. Eat 10-15 grapes, 2 apples, 1 pear and 2 oranges everyday! Cut your fish portions to 4 ounces 4-5 times a week. No beef. Bison, venison, lamb or pork loin

Does this sound reasonable? emoticon BAFFLED

    Can you get a referal to a nutritionist?
We've got away from eating the quantity of fat our bodies need to process foods and keep our brains healthy over the past 20 years, so I agree with him in upping your fat consumption, but that seems overly high!

    That much fruit would tear my delicate digestive system up for a month! The rest sounds pretty good, but very expensive too. I know, trading off all the "bad foods" for healthier ones should help the budget, but I've never been much of a fast food person.

    Whoa! That's a lot more calories he added into the mix. What did he exchange out for them?
My simple plan makes more sense. I eat between 1250-1500 calories a day.
2-3 fruits a day
3-5 veggies a day
2 starches a day (example 1/2 cup rice, 1/2 baked potato or 1 slice bread =1)
1-2 servings non-fat milk or reduced fat cheese, yogurt a day
6-8 oz cooked wt. protein a day (mostly eggs, chicken and fish 3 oz = deck of cards)
3 tsp. fat a day
It usually ticks all the SP boxes for eating healthy and stays in my range. My fiber is usually around 20 gms a day.

Hope you find the combination that works for you.
