Day 915... throttling back

Thursday, March 27, 2014

I have been pushing pretty hard for most of this month and it has caught up with me. So, I took a second rest day today. My feet are quite unhappy with me, and my back tightens up around mile 5 when I am walking. I was thinking about shooting for 500 miles in March, but common sense has reasserted itself... I should still make 400 miles, but I won't stress my body by trying for 500. My only concern is that I might lose momentum. Inertia is a powerful force.

Still, I walked over 5 miles today and did some crazy dancing and a little yoga. Got some grocery shopping done. Mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, with a little cheese thrown in to round things out. I am still working on that pantry clear out... and that pot of bean soup. I did freeze about half the pot, but that still left half a pot of soup to eat.

I am thinking I might take another rest day tomorrow, just to give my feet a chance to recover. Then in the evening I am taking my mom to two events. Neither one excites me, but she really wants to go, so I will gladly drive her. I figure she drove me a lot of places when I was little, so...

I am impressed with 400 miles. I'm glad you're listening to your body. If you push through a little trouble now you could end up with major issues that will derail you.

Have you thought about strength training for when you're not walking. Walking is an excellent fitness exercise but their are parts of the body that do not benefit. If you don't have any, a small investment in weights, fitness bands, or kettle bells will be enough. SparkPeople has videos to get you started.

You know, you are such an inspiration. emoticon

You walk as much on your rest day as I walk on a busy day!

I have to say ............ Take it easy with your feet and listen to their messages ........ (I had plantar fasciitis) ........... and feet really need TLC .......... I don't think it ever possible for inertia to set in with you............ you set records in fitness! emoticon

Wow. Both of us are listening to the messages our bodies are sending us. Have the bodysnatchers taken over?

I'm glad you are taking it easy - as far as that goes with you because not only are you lapping the folks on the couch, you are lapping a whole bunch of us who are actively working out, too!
