What Have I Gotten Into?

Thursday, March 27, 2014

The sister who is slightly older than me (and who walks and bikes also) has been talking me into doing the Labor Day Bridge Walk over the Mackinaw bridge. This is held each year over labor day weekend and the governor usually starts the walk. It is a very big deal and you have to get your hotel room months in advance. Like this week. I am deathly afraid of heights. Not real keen on water either except to look at from shore. Anyway I agreed to it. Now my younger sister is also going. And calling the shots. She didn't like the hotel that we had originally booked so it had to be changed. We all have to take our bikes instead of renting. We must spend at least 1 day on the Island. There are only 2 beds in the room so now we have to share. Ick. I am not happy (you can probably tell). It is months away and I am already dreading it. 3 days with little sis is more than anyone should have to bear. Being around her for more than 2 hours and I'm ready to hurt her. She knows just what buttons to push on me and loves doing it. So I have from now until end of August to either back out or learn to tolerate her nonsense. TFRK - I might need help.

I have a sister like that too. Don't think I could spend 3 days with her. Perhaps you and your other sister should rebel and tell her she can do what she wants, but you guys are sticking to your original plan.

emoticon Do what will make you happy.

Oh lordie my friend, you don't need to subject yourself to this onslaught. The writing is on the wall.

What I see quite clearly is this: You want a challenge but the whole race is a challenge. Little bites at a time please or you'll choke to death, or choke your little sister.

Also do you want to stay in high anxiety and screw up your program now because of it? Guaranteed that is what will happen because of the fear and the guilt and the angst. emoticon Sorry hon I'd pass right here right now.

I still have many lines drawn in concrete. That's self acceptance.

Maybe book your own room and the others can share. At least this way, you can get away from her when you want to. Also, I think if you walk in the middle of the bridge, you won't even realize you are up high. There will probably be tons of people blocking your view of the water too.

Oh no! emoticon you really need to learn to put yourself first in these situations. Why be miserable? Just be honest with them, nicely of course. emoticon
