So the kids got here about midnight last Friday. It's been a blast spending time with them. Oh we've had some pissy moments (tantrums by both kids and adults) and some tense ones (between hubby and i and Karry and Nick). But we have survived! I won't go into the pissy moments things. And as for those tense moments..well...as much as hubby was looking forward to having the kids here..he's just not the cuddly grandpa type. More the grumpy old bear grandpa type. Which made me a pissed at him a few times. He'd jump in and bark at the kids (esp Malia) before any of the rest of us to say anything to her. He just doesn't deal well with little kids. Not even his own grandkids. Last time we were in Hawaii he was the same way with his granddaughter.
He's working 12 hr days so at least he's not interacting too much with the kids. The kids and I spent two days on The Strip. But on Sat we went to...Wally World! The boys had fun in the arcade there (so they drove all the way from Oregon to go play at Walmart!
Monday we went to the Fremont Street Experience (my first time down there). It was during the day so not too many strange people were down there. There was one woman in spike heels and a thong bikini bottom and nothing else. She was holding a large fan in front of her boobs, charging people to take a picture with her.
The boys (Caleb is 12 and Tucker is 13) were interested in if she had anything on behind the fan (and FYI..NO she didn't!)...Karry moved them right along past her!
A bit farther along was a pastie white short guy in a man thong, flip flops, and cowboy
hat doing the same picture thing. The boys weren't interested in him.
Malia did give out a few dollars to some homeless vets. One even asked if she wanted a picture with him.
Karry and Nick got a big margarita along the way (they water them down pretty much on the Strip). No buzz to them at all.
That same day we went to the Mob Museum> That was fun. Lots of info on the Mobs past and their presence in the forming of Las Vegas, but it's like a 3 hr thing, very interactive, and was packed!
Tuesday we did the other end of The Strip. The New York, New York (boys wanted to do the roller coaster but chickened out!
) The kids played in the arcade at NY,NY.
We then hit the M&M store (if you are ever in Las Vegas and LOVE M&M's..it's do not miss place!) They even have a NASCAR in there.
Then it was off to the Coke Cola store. That's another must see. They have a Coke Bear that is just the best. He's got a personalty bigger then the North pole. You can take pictures with your own camera (or phone) or have them do it and buy them...I bought them.
Yesterday we just stayed home. Nick got a new tattoo, so I kept the kids at home with me. I had to come back to work today. I wish I had the time to stay home but DTO is running short and I need what's left for our Hawaii trip. So the kids went back to the Strip today and will head home tomorrow morning early...like 5 AM. I'll miss them!
So the layoff happened at work while I was off. I'm OK..still have a job!
Eating was all over the place this week and no real workouts (other then a lot of walking). But my weight seems to be about the same as before they got here. Even with a stop at Gigi's Cupcakes.
I'll get back to a regular routine next week.
Hubby has to work all weekend.
But that will give me time to get the house back in order. The boys have been sleeping in the trailer (their own personal bachelor pad) so I'll need to check out there for cleaning too.
And a HUGE thank you to my BFF Calen for the wonderful Angel! Luv Ya GF!!
OK..that will be it for me. Have a great rest of the day everyone!
