The incline function on my new treadmill is working wonders for making workout better. I have been doing workouts walking around the house and neighborhood, but super- hot sun, rain, mosquitoes, wasps, and other outdoor annoyances can really get in the way of keeping up a workout that raises the heart to a target heart rate. The American Heart Association has a great article on it here: http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/

So far they say by their chart I am at the 95 – 162 beats per minute range for getting to my target heart rate. A gym a few years back said I should do 124 as a target heart rate, but I find that very hard to reach and stay at these days. I guess I am not newly 21 anymore. Oh well, being my personal best is the true goal.
12799 was my Fitbit step count for last night. I, Andrea M username PoeDaughter7, am on track for a Ten K Steps a day fitness plan for the Ten K Steps a day group on my Sparkpeople profile. I did the 45 minutes treadmill walking with hand weights, and 15 minutes on the fitness bike that is the normal amount needed for 10,000 steps daily. Ten thousand steps a day was supported by fitness studies researched by the U.S. Surgeon General (2001 and 2007) “A daily target of 10,000 steps was first proposed. The target has been recommended by the US Surgeon General and by the UK Department of Health.” (Wikipeadia.org “Pedometer” entry 2013) to be the normal step count amount needed to maintain and increase fitness, and is calculated by Fitbit here on the fitness section Sparkpeople site. I first started doing 10 k steps a day 5 days a week on Sparkpeople in 9/6/2010.

You definitely do not live in Minnesota! It's quite the opposite of hot here, indeed, it's below freezing this morning and the ground is still packed with snow. Anyhow, glad to hear the treadmill is working well for you, hope you continue to progress with your plans and goals.
