Sucking on Chocolate? Yeah, Sucking on Chocolate!

Thursday, March 27, 2014

I am an unapologetic chocoholic, so whenever I see an SP article on this fine food I read it! A few weeks ago I read an article that, among other things, suggested that we should suck chocolate like candy rather than eat it like food. I decided to give this a try, but at first I didn't like it. I was too impatient and wanted my shot of dark-chocolate-joy sooner rather than later.

But I hung in there and soon learned that this is a much better technique for (1) truly savoring chocolate and (2) making the joy thereof last all the longer. So nowadays here's what I do: I take two squares of Lindt dark chocolate (chili is my favorite flavor) and break them into four pieces each, for a total of eight. After lunch and dinner, I slowly suck on each piece until it naturally dissolves in my mouth, and voila, 15 minutes of dark-chocolate-joy!

So, are you a chocoholic, too? Give this technique a try and let me know what you think!

I also have my chocolate this way, seems like less is more with this slow indulgence. I also like the chili and dark along with seasalt and dark too.

emoticon is delightfully delicious!

My yes I am a chocoholic and have been using this method for a while----so much more satisfying then chewing and its gone to quickly. So much more enjoyable sucking on the chocolate---dark chocolate for sure.

I suck on a tootsie pop. The chocolate one's are my favorite. It lasts at least 30 minutes and takes care of my sweet tooth.

Nope, not gonna go! I know myself too well!

I HAVE been able to limit myself with natural almonds and routinely count out my 24 almonds for the ounce I allow when I indulge. Who knows, maybe someday I'll conquer chocolate too? :-)

I'll have to try that, thanks for the idea. I love chocolate, especially after I eat lunch or dinner.

Never thought of doing that. I haven't had any chocolate in 2 weeks.

Actually, I have done that and as hard as it is not to just bite into it there's so much more (and longer) pleasure eating dark chocolate when you just let it dissolve and savor every minute!! emoticon
