Thought and Prayer for Thursday, March 27, 2014

Thursday, March 27, 2014

When someone gives us something, we usually take it. We are sometimes taken by surprise by that gift or it may be a gift to celebrate something. But usually, we accept the gift, we thank them and we use the gift. God has a gift for us. He has many gifts for us. Some we already have because He has given us life. Others we have to accept before we can use them. The most important gift of all is His son, Jesus. When we accept Him, we will receive many more gifts – too many to count or even know about. One other gift is the gift of strength which comes when we draw close to Him and build a relationship with Him.

1 Chronicles 29:12 “Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, thank You for the gifts You give us. These gifts are great and not at all like our worldly gifts. We thank You for Your Son who is the Greatest Gift of all. Because of His death, we have new life. Because of His love, we have the ability to love. Because of His blood, we are forgiven. We thank You also for Your Holy Spirit who lives in us, as believers, and gives us strength. Help us to continue to draw close to You and accept Your gift of strength and to be obedient to You today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

In order to receive God’s gifts, we have to recognize and accept them.

Many a gift goes ungiven when the receiver in not willing to accept it.

We can do for others and help them but they have to be willing to be helped.

The right gift we need from God will come at the right time and we need to be ready and prepared to accept it.

God can give us the strength we need to be sure that all our gifts are used to glorify Him.

Ephesians 6:10-11 “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.” (NLT)
