Tried: Failed

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

I tried to barter a new bike from the manufacturer, but to no avail. My bike was stolen last year and I am in desperate need of a new one because I love riding bikes for exercise.

Guess I will have to keep on saving for the new roof and the bike (I need $10,000 for the new roof and about $1800 for the new bike with accessories--yes, it is an expensive bike, but will hold my weight and is ergonomically designed).

To get to $10,000 I gave myself the goal of Dec. 2015 and use smartypig to directly deposit money into my roof fund. Here's hoping I can make it.

I meant the homeowner's insurance for the theft of the bike, not the roof. :) The bike is covered under homeowner's insurance, less your deductible. I worked in insurance for 20 years. :D

Good saving goals! Both are really important.

Add to the list some very tough antitheft cables. I tether mine up in town, it has a letter code to undo it, no lock to lose. Bike thieves are inhuman and mean.

Every week your fund will grow. Just keep busy and ignore it and soon you will have what you need. Sooner or later.

Good luck with savings! I definitely agree about looking into the home insurance - I don't know if a roof is covered, but it can't hurt to find out.

Yes home insurance. Otherwise you will get there - it may take time but you will get there

contact some of your local charitable organizations. They might be able to help you with both your bike and roof funds.

It should be covered under your homeowner's or renter's insurance, less your policy's deductible.

You should call your insurance agent. Even if your deductible is $1000, that's still $800.
