Where's a Hot Flash When You Need One?

SHELF by Erika Oller

I love the prints from this artist...
I have a set of coffee mugs and dessert plates {...Ooops..I mean salad plates...}
with her designs on them .
I have my own little shelf and I am not getting anywhere with it.

Did not help that I did today's Trivia Challenge and one of the questions was
Do exercises for the ABS help with Belly Fat ?....
Answer....NO emoticon
There is no way to target weight loss to a specific area of the body because
your body decides where it wants to put on weight and
where it wants to take it off.
{...Oh body and my inner child are collaborating...Terrific...}
The midsection is a common "problem" area for many people.
The best way to lose fat is through cardiovascular exercise.
It is important to do a variety of abdominal exercises (including crunches)
to keep your core strong, but until that excess fat is gone,
you will not see the muscle definition.

So by my calculations .... I might as well give up

going to do some core strength training this afternoon

I borrowed Disney's FROZEN video from the Library.
Going to make myself a pot of tea and enjoy it.
If you can't fight the weather ... you might as well have fun.

Member Comments About This Blog Post:

I have been trying to lose weight through diet and exercise for years. I didn't start really losing weight until my GERD symptoms got really bad. It was like having a heart attack! So I have had to stop eating high fat and high acid foods. That's when my weight went down very quickly. I was already exercising regularly. It is very hard to stick to a healthy diet. I was forced to.

I guess I was lucky. It seems like the weight went off my belly first.

Agreed...a strong core is great but it would be nice to get the winter layer off. Still I did a quiz that said my spirit animal is a bear so maybe I should be hibernating...LOL

I like your great sense of humor.

I do think doing cardio, helps the tummy somewaht. Some get results doing various things, but more don't. I think it's complicated. Sigh.

Hope you enjoy the Frozen video on that cold day.

Even if I am wrong, i think I have noticed that abdominal exercises do help define my stomach muscles. I am going to keep doing them

Nice painting.

I went into menopause at 46 and still have plenty of hot flashes at 61 - or however old I am. I forget. It's a common thing at my age - you really never get old because you can't remember how old you are and always error on the side of youth. You can have some of my hot flashes. My hubby doesn't appreciate them and is afraid he might be burnt to a crisp one of these days.

I have cantilevered shelves. Boobs, stomach, abdominal apron. They catch food drips and crumbs assuring that I couldn't possibly ever look clean or attractive at whatever age I really am.

My internal organs ae relieved that abdominal exercises don't work. There is not much room in their cavity for any compression. I need some serious liposuction. The surgeon better have a semi ready to get rid of a ton of blubbler. emoticon

I have to laugh every time I read the Spark People fitness articles (& from other sources) that say "butt blasters!" "Whittle your wings" or whatever - then read another that says you can't really spot reduce. I know the idea is to firm the muscles underneath the padding, but ... sigh ... the padding is still there!

  Hi Sheryl..........
I haven't seen FROZEN yet, but I have heard so much about it from Elizabeth, that I feel quite familiar with it. She knows all the songs and loves to sing "Let It Go" on our way to Gymnastics. She definitely has Theatre in her future!!!
Thank you for thinking of me today. I really appreciate your support and friendship.

LOL! I'm channeling the same thing. I've noticed several people over the last couple of months actually glancing down at one of my rolls. I'm sure they think I've gained weight. Nope. Lost fat from above the roll (I can see a couple of ribs now!) and below it (can tell mostly from my silhouette), but the roll is the same size as before.

The sad thing is that having distinct "rolls" is actually an improvement from having Buddha belly, lol!

Having too much tummy is not good but think about having two large boobs that always stick out when you are eating and your clothes are always getting stains in those areas. There is no exercise for big boobs. When I was a skinny lass my aunties with big boobs were always a horror for me and now I am that auntie. Winter is back in this area after a hint of spring. Snow is blinding me. Other than that I'm fine and I had shrimp salad for breakfast. It doesn't get finer than that.

I hate my belly more than anything else! Maybe because I can't actually see myself from behind... however, I AM seeing some reduction in the rolls again lately. Because I have been torturing myself at the gym... hmmm... I know I cannot out-exercise my fork... guess I really have to be more careful what I put in...

Darn! But it is nice to see a little progress, even if Mr. Scale is not cooperating...

Hope you have a good day despite the weather - I was quite surprised to find out it was 39 degrees here this morning... My car was nice and warm in the garage, but when I got to the gym and parked half way down the row - I do it on purpose - I opened the door and was shocked! Guess I should have read the weather forecast, eh?
