Underneath It All

I worked in the garden today to get it ready for planting, and addition of compost, and generally seeing what else needs to be done. I don't want to till, for one reason, because I wouldn't be able to do it myself, way too much work for someone recovering from pneumonia (still have 5 days on the antibiotic, and still rather weak...
But I DID want to pull up some weeds that could be a problem later on....usually I just bury them in mulch, but it was a perfect, beautiful day for digging, so I gave as many as I could find the old Heave Ho, and guess what I found! Even though it has been a coldish winter, there was a lot of life under the surface, earthworms everywhere, and even the occasional fat fat grub (which I tossed over the fence)....
It was good to get dirty again.... it's all part of my New Normal.
