Find a New Toy To Play With

Monday, March 24, 2014

“You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.”
~Mike Murdock

Yesterday I had huge cravings for ice cream...
I saw the advertisement for my favorite brand .. on sale..
and the inner child in me just would not let it go.
ON SALE
{...there is always...and always will be...a sale on ice cream...it's a profit maker..}
So what's the big deal.
I managed to force myself to eat a pear and a pot of tea instead
{...after telling myself that I would go buy some if an hour later I still wanted it..}
I distracted myself with a project...and VOILA....the urge was gone.

Now a lot of people will say...
you shouldn't deprive yourself if you really want something
to which I say
do you know how many times I want something I really don't need
and if I give brain enough time to stall
my inner child may just get distracted and go find a new toy to play with

{..I am starting to sound Schizophrenic...I should stop here...}

Have a great week...find some toys to play with emoticon emoticon ciao

    Hahahahaaaa ... Toys for adults! This may be one of the reasons I on frequent occasions work with my little mp3 voice recorder to record yoga and pilates sequencing ...

Low-carbing has food cravings mostly in the bag; but as a side effect, it creates indifference to wanting to exercise (and my condition mandates loads of cardio), so rather than consume-consume-consume others' challenging workouts all the time (plus I could not afford it), I produce at-least-serviceable (and always INSPIRED!) workouts for myself.

Record it once, by segments if necessary; and you never have to remember it again ...

    I never thought about it before but Attention Deficit Disorder might be good in these instances.

    There is always a "good" reason to reward yourself, pamper yourself, whatever. Birthday, anniversary, holiday, sale, vacation ...

Go, Grrl!

    AHHHHH My inner child,, LOVES to be SPOILED and as a kid,, that's exactly HOW IT WAS though NOT From my parents,,, but, I had the "5 finger discount" (LOL I THOUGHT THAT WAS OK as long as I WON the GAME which I ALWAYS DID ! OH MY GOODNESS !) so I ALWAYS had my FAVORITE Candies, chips, soda's, pasteries,, ice cream etc, and as I got older this also turned into cigarettes , gum, but than THANKFULLY A friend talked to be about HONESTY And I REALIZED what I had been doing was WRONG ! My Mom NEVER CAUGHT ME so as a child I simply did NOT learn,, and I had taught my brothers to ALSO be this good).

Now that inner child knows I LOVE HER and that FOOD IS NOT the answer. As someone already said,, I get up after eating,, and walk around,, doing the dishes,, straightening up the kitch,, feeding the cat (That food is ALMOST ALWAYS GOING TO SICKEN YA ! LOL) and IF I am HONESTLY HUNGRY I say "Eat fruit" and so I DO if hungry. WHile it's NOT ice cream,, it iS SOMETHING. Hunger does NOT know the diff once it go past the taste buds. The CALORIE COUNTER DOES !

    That trick totally works! My brain thinks we need something sweet to 'signal' the end of dinner, I say wait 20 minutes; I sit, we wait, and my brain gets the I'm full signal from my stomach!! emoticon

    Patti... you and I both know that if we ever got together for a play date they would arrest us both for endangering the welfare of our inner children .
I can't imagine the mischief we would get into

  Hi Sheryl...........
I think that we should get our "Inner Children" together for a play date. While they are playing, we can try out our new TOY..........the Yonana Machine. I intend to find out more about that. My DH loves ice cream and this might just be the answer for him too.

    I am the same way. A craving may hit, but I ask myself the HALT questions -- am I:

Hungry
Angry
Lonely

Tired

If the answer is anything but hunger, food isn't the answer. But if that craving STILL niggles @ me, I find something to distract me for @ least 10 minutes, and by that time almost always the craving has left the building.

    yep, get your mind off of it, and the urge usually will go away,
but alas, not always with me, but you are correct, stall it and the mind wanders away from that nice chewy candy (my downfall) emoticon

    Unfortunately, ice cream is one of my favorite toys. LOL. But I do stick to a serving even though I could easily eat 12 and I buy the healthier stuff and it satisfies me. I can do the switch off with other things I crave though.

    HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE YONANA MACHINE? YOU TAKE FROZEN FRUIT AND RUN IT THROUGH THIS MACHINE AND IT COMES OUT LIKE ICE CREAM! I LOVE IT AS IT IS LIKE EATING ICE CREAM WITH NO SUGAR, CREAM, ETC. JUST GOOD FRESH FRUIT. I DO THINK YOU NEED TO LIKE BANANA'S AS IT IS BETTER WITH BANANA'S. YOU ALSO HAVE TO LET THE BANANA'S THAW A LITTLE BEFORE RUNNING IT THROUGH THE MACHINE. IT ALSO COMES WITH A RECIPE BOOK. MY HUSBAND NO LONGER CRAVES ICE CREAM AND HE USED TO EAT IT AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. YOU MIGHT GOOGLE IT AND SEE WHAT YOU THINK.

    Amen, Amen, Amen!!! If I am working (which equals bored) I always want a snack. If I am crafting and being creative, I don't even think about eating... Perhaps there is a little schizophrenia at this end too... I'm going to go find a toy...
