Today I started exercising right after I got up. Watched a Perry Mason while still in my pajamas to get a good start on my step count. Then after showering and dressing I did 2 more episodes. I wanted to go to the library around 2 so I finished up and went to discuss the library with DD. And I promptly fell asleep while sitting in the sun with the cat on my lap. Darn cat. I even had my coat on. Slept for 2 hours. 2 hours! By then I was behind on steps since I had counted on getting a couple thousand while out and about. Then oldest DD called about dinner since she comes over every Sunday for dinner. Yikes, where was the day going to?
Anyway I had 5,000 more steps to get in to reach 20,000 for the day so I headed back downstairs to hang with Perry again. Two episodes later (or was it 3?) I was hovering at 27,000. 3,000 more steps and I will set a new record for myself but I didn't want to watch anymore television. Came upstairs and looked outside - starting to get dark out but still light enough to walk to the corner and back a couple of times. So I put on my coat and my outside walking shoes and headed off. Did a couple of laps (with a flashlight) and came back home to check my FitBit with the porchlight. 29,737. So I ran up and down the sidewalk next to the garage. Up and down. Up and down. Rechecked - 30,051! New personal best for me!
So even though I fell asleep and lost a couple of hours I still managed to have a great day. And now I know why cats love to lay in the sun - it just feels good.
