Time for Spring

Friday, March 21, 2014

Officially Spring is here, and the weather put on a fabulous, warm, sunshiny show for us today...

I'm going to wait a few days before I plant my tomatoes, though....the mesquite trees have not yet budded, and the old timers swear that if the mequite trees haven't budded out, then there's still a chance for frost.... ( I use to laugh about Old Timers, and now I think I AM one!)

“I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become, I will always plant a large garden in the spring. Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature's rebirth?" — Edward Giobbi

“I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden.” — Ruth Stout

“In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.” — Margaret Atwood

I am going to try to grow some tomatoes in pots this year. It seems like most of my gardening is just to feed the rabbits!

Planting tomatoes…hmmm…I think all the snow has to melt first and we don't have danger of frost - we are expecting a possible snow storm Tuesday night. *SIGH* -- wish it was time to start my garden here too!

Be sure to take a drive to see all the bluebonnets between HEB and IH37 on 337. They're beautiful!

I think digging in the dirt is very therapeutic. And all the gardeners are inundating the big hardware stores. Wonderful weather for anything out of doors.

I love Spring, but I don't like gardening myself, but I do like to look at beautiful veggie or flower gardens during this time of the year. Happy Planting!!! emoticon
