Seriously p****d right now. I stayed at home all day and waited -- and the inspector never showed. No notice they needed to reschedule. And I even phoned the office in the morning to request repairs. I could certainly have been notified then. Believe me, they're getting a phone call in the morning.

However, there are a few pluses. Not the least of them is that my apartment is the cleanest it's been in ages. I can actually get to the bedroom closet door now! Also (and this will sound like a very bad sitcom), I found a lot of stuff I didn't know I had. A missing pan lid turned up behind my stand mixer, and a missing boning knife was hiding between the counter and the refrigerator. I had also squirreled several bags of canned stuff in the bedroom (don't ask), and I found out that I'm positively swimming in cans of tomatoes, hominy, fish and beans. So it's definitely time for some soups and chili. First up on Saturday is my favorite hominy and Italian sausage soup with some cornbread or corn muffins. I'm sorry, but fresh soup needs fresh bread or muffins. And as discussed before, I seriously love cornbread.

Of course, there's still a bunch I need to do. I suspect Amelia Earhart may be hiding in the bedroom closet, so it badly needs cleaning. Also, the laundry on the couch may be clean but it obviously doesn't belong on the couch!

But at least I can find the bed again. And I can open the front door wide and open the blinds.

Too much has happened. I'm just ready for a weekend collapse.

I'm glad you were able to find the silver lining to that cloud. How rude of them! I hope you have lots of yummy meals that result from those hidden gems!

How do you say inconsiderate? Just ask your apartment manager. emoticon
Know what you mean about cleaning and nobody shows up. emoticon
Relax and enjoy the weekend.

You should call the manager and ask them to take a day's missed pay off your rent. That's very frustrating and inconsiderate.

So rude when scheduled appointments are no call/no shows. That really burns my biscuits!

I agree with the others, enjoy the neat & tidy. Try and do a little bit of organizing & cleaning everyday. Before you know it, your place will be a showplace.

What a GREAT feeling to have everything all nice and clean. That is a feeling that I haven't experienced in a long time, but I still remember how good it felt.

At least it was a productive day, even though you didn't accomplish what you'd hoped with the inspection. Take it easy this evening and enjoy your oup.

If you find Amelia, let me know. In fact, let us ALL know - especially if you find her there, wearily armed with a spray can of Scrubbing Bubbles. And please tell her I said, "Long time no sea" (groan...) Congratulations on all YOUR accomplishments...and your blog posts are always literally sooo delicious! emoticon
