Thank you all again for your input

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

I really do learn so much from all of you .... thank you so much. It's so nice to not feel all alone. I am doing better on the higher doses of the prednisone. Had a good day yesterday and plan on having a good day today.

We are still without power(thank goodness for generator). I have called the electric company which is always a funny experience as they speak spanish and I speak "spanglish"...some how we get by but it is frustrating when you can actually see the problem on the poll and it's an easy fix. It's happened before as well and we had high winds. All they need to do is come with this special poll and push the fuse thing back into place. But this is the third day without power. Monday was a holiday and the Mexicans take their holidays very seriously and unlike the states there are not many workers or services available as they are all having fiestas. I will continue to call today and see what can be done. Good thing we have fountains and a pool where I can get water to flush toilets.

I am going to walk the dogs today and do a few errands.
I do hope you all have a good day.
Thank you much for all your support and comments.

Great news that you are feeling better. Prednisone is an amazing drug. Now if you can just get the power back on life might be good again!

I hope you stay on the mend!

dear sallie, i am so grateful you are feeling better. and so sorry you are dealing with the continued power outage. also living in mexico, i know the frustration. my internet connection was finally restored late yesterday afternoon--it took all of ten seconds but i had to wait two full days, by which time i was decompensating, including having two uber-binge days and almost three days without exercise. today, i will continue to try to catch up with emails, eat well, make good fitness choices, and otherwise free myself of the black web i have woven. i have a very long history of prednisone use, the last course being in november 2012 when i was nearly dead from a relapse of my uc. while it is a powerful antiinflammatory with potentially miraculous results, it can also cause intense harm. i will never put it into my body again. i would honestly rather die. one very dangerous adverse effect to note is osteoporosis, so you will want to take the lowest effective dosage possible for the shortest amount of time possible. it seems like you are able to handle the appetite stimulation and water retention aspects of the drug (i cannot to a dangerous degree), but keep in mind, if you are experiencing mental/psychological changes, they may very well also be due to the prednisone, from euphoric highs to the lowest depths. never have i had so much energy to accomplish so much as when i took it, and never have i spun more out of control with my eating and emotions. if you cannot eventually taper off, then something else is likely going on, and that needs to be addressed. prednisone is an antiinflammatory. you must have an indication of inflammation that shows up on our bloodwork. i would still be interested to know what it is--it will be important for you to repeat your labs to track this number, though there is not always a direct correlation. you know you are in my thoughts, prayers, and healing circle. and thank goodness you have so much light within you, the power outage is a mere nuisance, not a tragedy. emoticon

So glad you are feeling better and can get out and about. How well can you communicate with the people who do your chores? Maybe you can get them to explain to the electric company what is wrong by showing them the problem so they can explain it..
Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
