A/C, Sansone, Earthquake

Monday, March 17, 2014

Yesterday the temperature prediction was to be in the 80's - higher than usual for this time of year. With stucco exteriors, it's like being in a slow-bake oven as the sun beats down all day. As things got hotter in the house, I kept thinking that it's only March. Too early to turn on the a/c. Well, the temps hit 80 and my poor little cats turn into rag dolls at that temp. Then, 83 and rising made me head to the thermostat and turn on cooler air. Honestly, it hit about 84 and rather than have dead cats, and a tough time of it myself, I bit the bullet and decided it's never too early when it gets that hot.

I'd been doing the Sansone 30 day dvd where she alternates days walking and firming. By day 12, I really hated it. I don't do well with rigid schedules, got bored, and another unexpected factor occurred. I changed my dumb bell weights too soon. And for walking days, I used another of her dvd's with the toning band. I've always had a hard time with bands. There's something about the way they make my body move that produces very sore lower back muscles. Not in a good way, as though they are getting stronger. All that said, I've given myself a break with Sansone and done other things instead. When I continue with her again, I'll do various walks and not sure if I'll return to the firming sessions. If I do, I'll be prudent about dumb bell usage.

This morning we had an earthquake. It's nothing new here in SoCal, but I really have a feeling we are in for a big one soon. Just my gut feeling. So, I've begun wearing my daytime clothes to bed - just in case.

Okay, spark friends. Have a wonderful day.

I want to by sympathetic about the heat, but I'm waiting for the coming snowstorm to arrive here in MN, so all I can do in envy you.

I think you['re wise to set aside the bands. It's best to listen to our bodies, especially when we're really taking the time to listen to the details.

As for the earthquake which you are taking in stride, AAAGH!

Yes, sometimes being this Midwestern does hurt. :D

I say I would welcome some warth but I know how quickly it can change.
My cats will have to suck it uo this year, we have no A/C if it gets too hot they better find a cool place under the bed.

Hmm... I seem to recall you talking about the temps being in the 40's. How quickly things change. :) I'd turn on the A/C if it hit 75.
Even though I'm on the East Coast I've had the feeling that a big quake is due... but more small ones are better.
You are doing great in listening to your body. You will find what works for you.

Wow, it is hard to believe 80 degrees, I wish we had it!

Hopefully you don't have another earthquake soon, how scary!

I've never experienced an earthquake, and hope I never do. Earthquakes are probably the main reason I've never been too keen on the idea of vacationing in California. Keep safe!

I can't tolerate even 80 degrees here without air conditioning and my chinchillas don't like it above 73.

I sure hope you don't have a large EQ. We have them here too from the New Madrid Fault and the Wabash Valley Fault.

I know you have other emergency equipment all ready based on your blogs from some time back. It never hurts to be prepared.
Hugs!

Breaks are good - earthquakes are not! We're waiting for tornado season to start here.

Have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day and stay safe!!

If there is one thing I don't miss about living in CA it's the earthquakes. I do the Leslie Sansone videos too, but totally agree that sometimes you just have to mix it up. I have a dancing video that I sometimes do when I get bored of walking, but my favorite is just to walk outside. However, with South Dakota weather still being in the 30s I have to bundle up quite a bit.

Good luck to you finding a workout that's fun and works for you.

It's definitely unseasonably hot in CA. Sorry Leslie's plan isn't working out for you. I hope you're wrong about a big earthquake.
