What do you restart as spring arrives?

Its March, and on the Northern hemisphere the Sun is back!

So am I back in the saddle again, and crunch in the miles with my Cannondale.

Although the weather has been good for more than a week now, somehow it took me a couple of days to restart biking. I noticed this several years: during Autumn, I'm out until the very last day, but in Spring, it takes a few days to restart.

Usually I dont do regular biking when the temperature drops below 5C (41F). The reason is that when biking, due to the wind the experienced temperature is 5-7C lower compared to the actual temperature, so 5C is more like -2C (28F).

The skin around my elbows and knees dont like the cold. During one winter, I ignored this, and now my skin is very sensitive to cold in these areas where there is no muscle to keep it warm.

But now, Im on the bike again, and it feels so great. Yesterday, we went for a good 45 minute ride. The headwind was incredibly strong, so we didnt stretch the limits to build up our routine back gradually.

Going around the hills of Gleisdorf, fresh Spring Mountain air, insects buzzing, birds singing, and the smile of fellow bikers. How I could survive without this in the past months? We are already planning the bike tours for the long weekends!

In May, the openair pool will open, too, but with swimming, I won't wait a single day in waste. I've already marked in my Google Calendar to go to swim on the very first day the pool opens, by my season ticket, and jump in the water. How I go to the pool? Either running, or biking! :-)

    How long do you usually ride by the end of the season? I'm not much of a biker so anything to me is impressive but if you're starting at 45 minutes, you must be able to ride for hours!
As for me, running class is starting up again. Been outside in the cold weather for the last week. There is still the threat of snow in the NorthEast USA so we might still do more bootcamp indoors.

    Hubby and I will start walking more--we need the light in the evening and I like it to be warmer!!

    I eagerly await discontinuing my anti-coagulant so I can hit the roads on my bike soon...weather is improving into cycling range for me at long last!

    For me it will be getting back on the bike, but mainly getting back to running outside. I have started back with my running by joining a running class from the local running store. This way I get to run with a group and it gets me out there!

    I have to restart my regular daily swimming ... I'm something of a wimp in winter, and when it's too chilly in the water I don't hit the pool. We've now had a couple of 80 degree days so it's back to regular swimming as soon as I'm back in shape for it. Which takes me a few days ... LOL! I wish I could go biking, too ... I miss doing that (too dizzy to ride any more, except on stationary bikes which just isn't the same.) emoticon

    I also get colder now that I am thinner. I have started to walk outdoors again now that it is warmer. We have lovely small flower buds and it is wonderful to be outside again!

I am glad you are back on your bike and traveling throughout your beautiful country. It is also nice to see fellow bikers or walkers with you.

By the way, I do not know if you decided to track hunger, but you can add a personal goal to track on your Start page. no graph though.
