The Birds!

Monday, March 17, 2014

Hi all - hope you're doing smashingly well!

After quite a few weeks of losing well I hit a rodbloack... well a chocolate block actually!

Several of them!!! I have gotten a taste for dark chocolate and have been indulging BUT no more - its been put on the banned list.

I was going through some photos to put up on my food blog and stumbled across these ones which gave me a laugh.

When I was living in Queensland I would feed the lorikeets daily at around 5:00 a.m. and again at 3:00 p.m.

It got to the point where if I hadn't served up their snacks they would start to stalk me.

They got to the point where they would hang off the screen door leading outside and screech at me till I gave them food

(Ignore the red circle - just something I was playing with)

And this was just a normal feeding for them...if you look at the very top of the picture you can see some tail feathers - the birds would line up and wait once the table was too full to land on LOL

Have a great day all !

LOL. They even let you take their picture! I used to feed birds in our little balcony by the window, very similar to yours. We were only renting the apt. so we were told after a year to stop feeding the birds. Mind you, by then, if we ever were late at feeding them early in the morning, some of them would fly to the other side of the apt. where the bathroom window was and tap on the glass with their beaks. If not, they would go to the window, squawk and tap the main balcony window some more. Really. We were still living in our old apt. for a year before we moved, and still the birds would stop by every day and try to tap our window. I felt so bad for them. I was so thrilled to have so many birds every morning waiting for me. It made me so happy, but they did have an excess of doo doo, so what to do?

Enjoyed seeing your pictures!
We had sparrows/starlings/pigeons/seagulls
/cardinals/warblers (?).

Miss them so much.

How wonderful to have such beautiful "pets" that you don't have to monitor every moment! They are screechy sorts though, aren't they?!?

Great pics.
Thanks for the morning smile!

LOL! Those little guys are so pushy, aren't they? We were camping in Queensland, I forget exactly where - and a little rainbow parrot came and sat on my camp chair and looked at me like "so what do you have to eat?" So friendly, but also so pushy!!
