"Yeah But....." or "Yes If......" ?

Friday, March 14, 2014

Sometimes I forget how blessed I am.

I forget that God has allowed me to be where I am, at this moment, with the people I am with and to experience the things that I experience. I lose sight of that blessing at times.

I received A Spark Mail from a new member yesterday – Brand-Spankin-New, she is and full of energy and commitment. She asked if I knew where she might find a series of exercises to help her with some physical issues she’d encountered. No problem!

As I read the rest of her letter I became more inspired and impressed. She’d overcome a number of challenges both physical and emotional in her life and was looking forward to being part of this amazing community.

As I prepared to answer her I thought of something the late Zig Ziglar once said.

“There are people who live their lives creating excuses by always saying “Yeah but……” Then there are the people who look out each morning at the world before them, hitch up their pants and say “Yes, IF….”

As I typed I asked myself how many times throughout my day did I use the “Yeah But….” Excuse. Probably more than I care to admit.

Life is a transformation, a process, and amazing journey. My new friend here taught me a valuable lesson through her life story.

I choose, even if it’s only for today to be a “Yes IF” sorta guy

I agree with you, I realize, in front of choices I sometimes ask myself:

'What IF I tried? Against all odds?' What if it worked?'This question is at the basis of all I try and when I say 'YES Let's try' it's really new life and new experience,,,,- even if we all know how hard this is!!!
Glad I can share all this with you, John!!!!!

I've met a lot of "ya-buts" and there are times when I'm one myself. I just gotta do it.

I'm really going through some challenges at home right now. This was the perfect blog or me to read today.

How do you do that? Always know the right thing to blog about? It's like going to church and you're sure the pastor was speaking directly to you, about your particular situation. Amazing.

You are amazing, my friend. Truly amazing!

    Awesome perspective!

We had a Pastor once tell the congregation that every morning we have two choices; we can get out of bed and say "Good Lord, it's morning." or we can get out of bed and say "Good morning Lord". Some days it's harder to chose the latter but it's all about that choice, about living with intention, about not just reacting to life but choosing to be the VIP of our own game.

Thanks for sharing :)

emoticon Blog John. Really made me think about what I say. I want to be the person who is saying "YES IF". Sometimes I to forget how blessed I truly am. Then something happens and I am reminded again how bless I truly am. Thanks so much for sharing John.

My friends who do improv tell me that one of the rules is to never say "no" to something someone says to you. It's always "Yes, AND..."

So for example, someone says, "Wow! Look at that plane landing in the field over there!"

You don't say, "That's not a plane -- it's just a bird, silly!"
You say, "Yes, and (something to continue the plot)"

"Yes, IF" and "Yes, AND" are good ways to respond to what life comes your way.
