Streak Into Spring Day 13

Wrapping up the week. I'm trying not to rush the days away but I'm happy to wrap up this week.

After my mom passed away, I was a bit of a zombie at work so this week I was really trying to get it in gear and make my deadlines. My dad also had knee surgery this week so I've been a bit on edge worrying about him.He's doing great, just a bit too soon to go back to that hospital!

Spark Streak Into Spring challenge is going well. I committed to at least 10 minutes of strength training every day. Twice this week, including today, I took advantage of some alone time in the office and did my ten minutes of strength. One day I did the Spark 12-minute seated core workout and today I looked at the Spark fitness demos and did 10 minutes of lower body moves.

Except for last evening, I have been eating mindfully and getting light workouts done. This Saturday is the St. Patrick's day 5K so I have not done any strenuous workouts this week.

Physical therapy and the lousy winter have kept me from running more than a mile since the beginning of November so I'm not sure how I'll do at the 5K. All winter, I have been doing several intense lower body workouts and intense cardio workouts so I'm hoping it will be all good in the neighborhood Saturday. I'll just be happy to be outside and enjoy the morning with my daughter!

As some of you know, I need to wrap up my blogs with some music. The song Compass by Lady Antebellum has been in my head off and on all week...

    Enjoy your 5 k race. Your Spring Streak is going well. I hope your dad heals quickly. I think you are doing very well by staying positive and on track. Your energy is returning.

    As far as your 5K, just enjoy the time with your daughter (as you said you were going to.) Spring is showing her head and I hope she's here to stay. We'll both be able to get out and run more once she arrives.

    I had to laugh a bit when you wrote that you have only doing some "light" workouts. I don't think I have ever seen you write that before. I'm usually exhausted by the time I get done reading your blogs that talk about the exercise you have gotten for this day or that! Your fitness puts me to shame, but I'm making progress with your inspiration.

    what's the worst that can happen at the 5K? You walk. Not such a big deal. I hope there is beer at the end of that 5K, too!
