It continues to be bitter cold, I sit her e with five mourning doves sitting in my red maple tree staring at me. This morning Dd witnessed our resident hawk take down an adult squirrel in the back yard. I know it is nature, I know the hawk needs to eat and feed his young, but... I told DD not to tell me about future hawk kills.

Part of the problem is that for miles, the railroad has cut down gigantic, healthy trees that squirrels called home.. They did this a day before we got our first big blizzard that covered the ground. I imagine as the trees fell, the poor guys went tumbling to the ground and ran for cover with relatives in nearby tree nests...

Our local St. Patrick Day Parade is this Sunday.. I never go,, it is too cold and always either rains or snows or both. Some years we get a lot of snow on Mother's day...

I got some good ideas for skin moisture protection yesterday.. I used some baby oil gel right after showering and I think it held some moisture in...

I am glad I am not a squirrel or bird, having to hunt for food and warmth....

I feel the same way. Use to have a beautiful water stand for birds, until I saw it was actually a trap because of the neighborhood cats. enough said.

I also rarely attend St. Patty's day parade, either. I lived in a street that was blocked the entire weekend for 7 years. Got old real quick.

Glad to see you are still here giving it your best!

We had snow again. The dogs were not outside very long they have never been in snow.
I sure do wish winter would be behind us by now.

it is nice to enjoy nature, but sometimes it is brutal...
we had sunshine today, but the temperatures did not get above the low teens. at least we missed a lot of the snow they were predicting, only got a couple inches.
