my mom is talking to her hand now!

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

She said to it that you aren't going to cooperate tonight are you? Then she said why are you hurting now? I ended up laughing so hard i had to catch my breath. She is also supposed to bend her knuckles one at a time but the arthritis in them makes it nearly impossible.

emoticon I'm glad your Mom can find humor in it - that definitely helps a lot of things. I have some arthritis, too, and find that sometimes I get a bit of relief by using a paraffin bath for my hands. Really warms them up so I can bend more easily for awhile. My Mom used to warm a pan of water in the morning and warm her hands that way. Whatever works for you.

I'm carefully not listening for a response when I talk to my hands (or knees or hips).... I don't know if I'd like what they'd have to say. emoticon

BOY I CAN SURE EMPATHIZE WITH THAT. HAVING BOTH RHEUMATOID AND PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS, I CAN TELL WHEN WEATHER CHANGES ARE COMING LIKE I'M A HUMAN BAROMETER.

As long as the hands don't answer I think it will be ok!! I can relate though, my fingers swell and won't bend - worse in the mornings. I take glucosamine-chondroitin supplements and it has helped me but I know it doesn't help everyone.

Sounds like you are a great daughter who takes good care of your mom. Mine has been struggling with her health since October. She's finally starting to talk more, tell jokes, and laugh. I love it. I'm glad that you are able to laugh with your mom. Saying a little prayer for her. It's hard when my body won't cooperate with me...

I talk to my hands too. They are very uncooperative at the best of times, and in cold weather, they just won't work right.

Have her take some coconut oil with some tea. Make sure it is organic cold pressed coconut oil(can get it at Sam's club too). I have found that it helps with my arthritis in my hands and ankle.
