Weds. - my car's useful life has come to an end...

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

Patty - Tell me more, that sounds interesting... For some reason the topic I am doing my paper on has been mentioned in the paper several times lately....

Well, it's official..... My car got its death sentence today. Currently leaking from the transmission line, but the guy for $25 gave me an idea of not only the $1500 wort of work he estimated needed to be done, but even had me walk under the car when it was on the hoist and showed and told me the rest of the story....I asked him if it was his mom or his sister what would he reccommend, and he said "the junk yard - she's old and tired out". So, gonna give in transmission like gas for a couple weeks and give me a chance to search for a new car. Today, I took this step, emailed a Specs Sheet of what I want in a car out to 3 or 4 dealers and asked for a quote so I can compare apples with apples..... ie. Make & model, Payment plan, warranty, extras.... I spoke with 3 of the guys too and told them what I was doing, and they didn't seem to think it was weird at all that I was doing this.

Also went for my walk today, only my 1 friend showed up, and we walked for an hour, so that was nice too and then she ran me over to get a few groceries...

Couldnt' get into my paper tonite, so will have to see if I can convince library to allow me to borrow the books over again...

Nice to see everyone, hope you're all well.

Well, we kinda knew the end was in sight for your car. It's been slowly dying ever since I met you. It's still sad when we have to admit that it's time to give it up. I was talking about that with a friend Monday - she was laughing at how the last two vehicles that I had - she was constantly seeing me put in brake fluid, transmission fluid, steering fluid, etc. whenever I had to go somewhere. Hoping something turns up that's reliable and inexpensive. Put your feelers out for older people who are going to have to give up driving. My brother got a really good and cheap car that way.

When you go to places like the library or a local center, see if there are any local papers and magazines. Get in touch with the editor and see if they ever look for people to write articles. A teacher of mine did that and that's how I got that job.

Sorry to read of your car's demise. That's a good idea to read up, and do comparison shopping.
Sounds like a good walk too!

So sorry about your car, but you're being really smart about taking care of business. Good for you - good luck in the hunt for just the right one, too.
