To win the highly coveted title (and the hat) you have to run all 3 of the Snow shoe races hosted by the Trail Monsters. The first was 3 miles in January the second was 4.6 in February and the third was last Sunday (March 9th) and it was 5 miles.......I figure that the snowshoe races time wise are at least 2x the effort of a road race .....
If you did not have "racing snow shoes" you could borrow a pair (with prior notification) to the race director. Racing snowshoes are lighter and narrower than traditional snowshoes. The most notable mfg is Dion out of Vermont.
Each race was held at Bradbury Mountain in Pownal Maine.
A lot of fun and so glad I participated and pretty happy with my hat!
I guess with the winter we have had you've just got to make an effort to enjoy it!
Oh yeah legs were stiff on Monday - and helpful tip kicking yourself in the ankle with your snowshoe is not fun!
