It is almost spring. Which is a beautiful thing. The birds chirping, the sun shining, the people laughing....... The time of year when you just want to get out of the house and breathe. It is ALSO the time of year for spring cleaning. AAAHHHHH
Grr Arg.
I have a big house. too big for the three of us that live here. so in the unoccupied rooms, things tend to pile up..... things pile up, i give up. Then comes the dust, then comes the chaos. My husband and son are borderline hoarders. Its like they are allergic to throwing things away, or passing up on taking home something that we really will never use. Then they hand it to me all proud of themselves like, here...... do something with this. O.o
and it goes in a room, til spring, where it goes in the garbage. vicious cycle.......
So, I am starting to plan on my attack strategy. I wish i could get like 20 people in here to go through the house in an hour or so, and just clean everything. Oh... thats a great idea for a business. 20 people get together pool some money for cleaning supplies pay a joiners fee, and go from house to house cleaning each others houses...... And they get to take home whatever the other people dont want to keep. Win Win..... maybe not.

I track heavy cleaning as fitness, it does make me much more motivated to get things done!

I gave my kids a choice, either sell it in a yard sale or donate it to a charity that uses it to raise $ for a good cause (We have a small place and friends often give us things, knowing I up-cycle and recycle, so we get overwhelmed pretty easily). Usually they choose donating, so I provide bags in different colors for Keep, Donate, and Trash. If they leave without helping I take the stuff and dump it on their beds. "Wanna sleep this weekend? Start sorting."

I will admit, we have camped on the floor on more than 1 Saturday night. emoticon

Spring cleaning can be a YUCKY chore, that is for sure!!! I love your idea for a community clean-off...... great way to build relationships and share the workload.

I just learned today from some of my SP buddies that house cleaning and moving things like boxes can actually be tracked for fitness minutes. Maybe that will add a little incentive for ya :)

I sympathize with the hoarding problems.

Gee, maybe you'll find some treasures while cleaning - well at least you can dream. Have a great day! emoticon Earl
