Lately I have been switching my focus from a deadline of weight loss to a lifestyle of sustainable habits.
For now, that includes a daily walk instead of a run. For one, I still have nagging injuries from winter running and last year's martial arts.
For two, walking is just more pleasant. I'm sure I'll be running again this winter to train for my winter races, but until then, it's a daily walk.
During the summer I never run anyway. It's too hot here. But I know I can get outside for a 30 minute walk minimum even on a hot day. I can add DVD workouts as needed/wanted.
Today I walked for an hour on hills. FitBit said the elevation was equivalent to 24 flights of stairs. Walking allows me to really enjoy myself and notice more of what's around me. And what's around me right now are lots of flowers. Here's what I saw on my walk today:
