Day 899!

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

This fitness streak just keeps rolling along. Got in 3 dog walks and a three hour walk by myself this afternoon after my doctor's appointment, plus a little ST and yoga. As for the appointment... he saud to give the thumb another week before I start using the rower regularly again, and two more weeks before using the dumbbells. Grrr... my muscles are all going to be weak. And that CPK level wasn't low, which is what the nurse said on the phone, but rather it was high. I have to repeat that blood work in a month. My A1c was still at 5.5, so that is good. I also have to repeat the blood work I got done yesterday (on Monday) on the 17th. I know most of the lab techs pretty well by now. We chat while they are poking holes in me.

We had another beautiful Spring day today. It got up in the 40s and I saw a lot of people out in flip flops, shorts and tee shirts. Not me! I stay cold, so I wore my winter coat and a knit cap. I did skip the gloves though. Tomorrow promises to be blizzard conditions though. I think it will be harder to deal with mentally, because we had these nice days. Wednesdays are my rest days though so I can stay inside more than usual.

We get those people in New England who wear flip flops and shorts when it gets above freezing. I have to admit, I've done it a few times. Shorts with a winter coat on. I can't explain it.

I laughed to my self when I read "Wednesday is a rest day". Your idea of a rest day is other people's idea of a tough workout!

CPK gets elevated by muscle breakdown. It used to be a marker for heart muscle damage, but there are more select tests for cardiac markers now. Sounds like you're working out a wee bit much.

BTW, if someone passes out on the floor (like a drunk) and doesn't move for hours, the muscles in their bodies will break down, too. So, too much and too little movement can do it.

Baby that thumb so it does not turn into a problem

Hope the thumb keeps getting better. I hope the blood work is better next time.

Keep warm tomorrow.
