My babble..

Monday, March 10, 2014

My big excitement... I had to make an emergency run to town.. to the farm and garden store.. I had completely run out of suet cakes for my feathered friends. When I got there what I usually buy was not on the shelf.. so I made a comment about it.. one of the very nice fellows who work there lead me back to the appropriate shelving area.. when I explained what I was looking for, which was not on the shelf. He said he would look out in the warehouse... he came back with two packages and I snapped them both up.. Of COURSE. When I got home the first thing I did was fill the two feeders. By the time I had gotten into the house to look out the window, what, maybe all of 2 minutes later.... I had a Hairy woodpecker and two Downy woodpeckers bellying up to the bar for their FAT feed. I was so excited that I ended up calling the store to tell them how happy I was and how happy the birds were that I had shopped for them today.

I know it is rather silly, but being a single old lady I do rather enjoy my bird friends that enjoy coming to my little bird restaurant for sunflower seeds and suet cakes. And since I have no one else to share this with... I called the store,,, and now I am sharing it with you.

I usually find it hard to share myself with others. Partly from lack of practice, but mostly because I really don't think anyone would want to listen to anything that I have to say. They would rather that I listen to what they have to say... and I am quite, actually VERY, good at listening.. probably should have been a professional listener... I suppose I could go back to school to earn whatever degree would be necessary... but I won't. Most of the people I know who need to be listened to, well they couldn't afford to hire a listener, and, they are not troubled, just alone. It is very hard when you outlive your spouse, and your friends, and your family. The older you get the harder it is to make new friends. And sometimes you are not sure you want to make that much of an investment, the investment it takes to make new friends.

Sorry, I got to rambling on. Have a good evening, a better week, and a great life.. and may your life be a long life.

Oh my gosh, we could be sisters. Oh that's right, we are. Panther sisters ! I like to feed the birds also and the squirrels by default. LOL. And I do not share a lot about my life because it is frankly boring. LOL. Keep sparking friend. TC

Hey Audra, I just wanted you to know that you have been a real blessing to me! I certainly appreciate the wonderful support you and others have provided. You ARE a great listener!

Being alone isn't much fun no matter what your age. I'm going to be 52 this year and I've never married. Missed my chance to have kids. My roommate is someone I've known most of my life and is the closest thing I have to a sister. But, she's just now coming out of years of serious panic attacks, etc. So, for the most part, I feel very much alone. Isn't it lovely to have a God who promised to never leave us? Who loves us with wild abandon and an everlasting love?

I don't know about you, but when I need motivation--something to spark my life--I plan a trip. Whether or not I take it, the planning is fun! So, yes, I'm planning to go to Corpus Christi in May. Not an extravagant trip I know, but should be fun. Drive down and stay a few days. See the aquarium, the Gulf, a few museums....I've already booked my hotel and car rental.

    Hi Audra, emoticon

First and foremost, I love listening to what you have to say. I love the way you describe everything in detail. I could almost visualize myself there with you at the store and especially back at home when your bird friends visits you. I can feel your happiness! I do not think it is silly at all. I am so glad that you share it with us here.

Take care & have another blessed week! emoticon

Don't be sorry for sharing your thoughts! On the other hand, may I suggest you investigate going back to school? I have several neighbors now in their 90's who audited classes at the local community college and university for years, into their eighties. When you're a senior they'll let you do that and you get to meet new people of all ages - and you make new friends.

I feed birds, too. Just found out my new next door neighbor is frightened of the Canadian geese that come around and of pigeons! The geese just nibble on everybody's lawn (and leave a mess behind), but the pigeons line up on the telephone wires in the street by my house every morning and come down for the seed I put out for whatever birds will show. I have a pair of mourning doves that have been around (I think) for several years. I assume it continues to be the same pair. I do know they pair for life.

Anyhow - think of ways to get yourself out there. Volunteer to help with little kids at the school. Don't disconnect yourself.

Being a fellow bird lover, I truly understand and enjoyed hearing about your adventure. I also enjoy what you have to say. You make me laugh and warm my heart. I think if we lived close by, we would enjoy each others company together with some other spark friends. That's the only sadness I have found.....the distance that keeps us all apart.

So glad you posted this. Loved your excitement. Love and hugs.....Mary Anne
