Does anyone think that paying someone $1.00 per hour for a personal trainer is too much? I could really use the help but I have no idea how much one would usually charge. I can not do this by myself anymore.... losing NOTHING and ready go throw in the towel!

I live in Kansas and have had personal trainers ranging from $125 an hour to $50 an hour - all certified. At 24 Hour Fitness, the training is about $60 an hour - or your $1.00 per minute. The trainers are certified and will also help with nutrition (although all nutritional advice should be taken with a grain of salt since everyone's an individual).

I don't know where you'd go to pay much less, but the important thing is to shop around and to also ask for qualifications/credentials.

I've recently started suggesting two books to folks who have a problem with losing, I'm a fast gainer and find it very difficult to lose. Both books have worked - in combination - for me. The first is The Plan by Lyn-Genet Recitas. The second is called State of Slim by James Hill. Before paying someone for personal training, you might read both books to check and see that your current eating and exercise plans may benefit from a tweak.

You are in my prayers daily.

Exercising is very important, but losing weight is ALL ABOUT measuring everything you eat, calculating the calories and writing it down in the SP nutritional tracker. It's the amount of food and our choices of food that keeps us from losing. When you do that ... THEN ... it's time to think about a personal trainer. I'm on Day #215 of doing that and I haven't needed a personal trainer. Read my SparkPage.
