Take the time to try on several pairs until you find a pair that feels perfect. Spend as much as you need to. Exercising with good shoes lets you train longer and harder in greater comfort. Bad shoes discourage you from training at all, make you miserable, cause blisters, and possibly lead to injury as you contort your body to favor the blisters and aches. GET GOOD FITTING QUALITY SHOES!

    My favorite pair right now are ASICS, but I've done well with New Balance in the past. Unfortunately, my ASICS got a bit too, umm...., stinky. So I got some NB that felt good in the store; however, after using them for a week, they started giving me terrible blisters so I'm back to the old stinkies until I can go hunt down some similar ASICS. I suffered a miserable week with the NB's, thinking I'd either break in the shoes or my feet, but finally decided to give up and move on. Thus, today's advice column about shoes.

    I couldn't agree more. I literally do not even look at price tags when shopping for shoes. What did you end up with that you like? I really have to buy a pair of trail runners which means a trip to REI...one of the only stores I don't mind spend hours in (others must have books or music).

You are really killing it on your workout minutes. Cool how it chills the brain, right?
