time to organize craft projects

Saturday, March 08, 2014

i have a messy room that needs to get organized. I have craft projects everywhere I look. Time to put them somewhere I can find them. I have a plethora of crafts to do while I wait.

There is a website called www.flylady.net. I love this lady's philosophy. Chances are that if this room needs to be organized that there is at least one more room that could be organized a bit. She has set up a system. Each week is a different "zone". There are things you do every day and you concentrate on that zone that week. Take 15 minute increments and see what you can get done. (Set the timer.) Other family members can easily be recruited when it's only 15 minutes. After a couple months last summer, I felt so much better about the house. Alas, I let life get in the way for awhile and must start back. There are even a Flylady and a Flybaby Team on Spark People.

It IS easy to let our crafts take over, isn't it? I have about five large totes to keep my yarn in, and I've labeled the outsides with what's inside. Otherwise, I couldn't keep things straight.

Right now I'm working on my stash of yarn, in hopes of using up some of it. Besides, I'm making stuff for the craft fair this fall. Two birds with one stone.

Wishing you good luck with getting things organized, and I hope you enjoy working on some of those projects.

Sounds like time to finish one project before starting another. I know easier said then done!

My best solution has been stacking plastic drawers. Good luck! It's hard to keep all your fun stuff from taking over your space! The suggestion about a timer is a good one. I've done that too, telling myself I can do anything for 10 min or whatever amount of time I choose.

Good luck with that. I have crafts and books all over my place, too. It can be quite overwhelming. Sometimes I will set a timer for 15 minutes and focus on organizing for that much time. Then I give myself permission to stop until the next day. I know that when I start doing this consistently my place will be organized.
