Tummy is feeling a bit better

Saturday, March 08, 2014

Thank you all again for all the tips and advice. I am feeling good. Must have been the vinegar and cauliflower. Boy was that scary though with all that I have going on.
We have just about everything personal out of FIL's house and moved over to where he is living. He seems happy to be getting all his things around him. He also admitted that he is happy that he won't be living on his own anymore. So that was good and he says he loves the attention and all the gals that care for him. And they all are so sweet and nice and seem to love him. I love that about the Mexican culture. There are two other residents there that are both Alzheimer's patients and that is a bit discouraging for FIL as he is so very smart and sharp. So he can't really communicate with them and they are really "out there". What a sad disease. It is just so sad to watch people not be able to communicate or know what it up. FIL says that is the only thing he doesn't like is having to be around that and we understand....but as he says he has his music (he is a classical buff) and his computer with head phones. But you should see the way the Mexican nurses hug and love on the other Alzheimer patients. They are so sweet to them. FIL was somewhat sad as one of them had an "incident" that waS upsetting and FIL had some tears and said that he never wanted to be like that and to "shoot" him if he gets like that. We all told him there was no way he was getting like that. His brain is so sharp. He still does the NY Times crossword puzzles in like 10 minutes! I wish my mind was as sharp as his. And he did say that he still has a sense of humor and knows how important that is....the one old gal thought he was her husband and wanted to sleep in his they are going to put a lock on his door with a key hanging up that the nurses can get into fast and he can get out fast so he doesn't have any night time visitors....; )

So all is going well. We have more to do today then I can totally focus on packing for trips.
Hope you all have a terrific day

My baby is named Sally! Also my favorite sister and sister in law!
I am glad for you that your father in law have some wonderful people caring for him, and that he is happy about his living situation, too. Our parents are so very important.
I think I'll call my mother in law today.
thanks for your very personal and encouraging blog!

Much success to you!

Glad your tummy's better. And that FIL is happy.
A friend of mine has terrible short term memory loss. Can't remember what she had for her last meal. But take her back a few years and she remembers everything. I asked her if she remembered my friend whom she helped to get a heart operation a few years back, and she did. She used to be the head of the Deaconess community and was a very capable woman. Fortunately the old Sisters look after each other, so she's surrounded by members of the community who love her.

Sounds like things are perking along in the right direction. Hallelujah. Too bad that there is such a horrid disease as Alzheimer's. Mom has Alzheimer's and it is just utterly sad to see the decline in her mentation, but she is cooperative, cheerful and just has the worst time w/short term memory, but with pictures to reminisce, she's a happy camper.

Anyhow, glad your FIL is happy where he's at.

So glad you are feeling better!
You FIL seems to be in a nice place and relieved to be taken care of so well. Living on your own can be scary when you're not very mobile

Great to hear you're feeling better and good too that your FIL is getting such sound care and love. It makes me mad when I see what passes for care in homes in the UK, some are excellent and sadly some leave a lot to be desired.

Well, that's too bad the place is so small that your FIL doesn't have any peers more like him.
But that's probably why he gets so much love and attention, too.
Does he have any friends down ther e who will visit him regularly?
Glad your tummy is foot is a bit better today.

Wow..what a rough disease that is. I hope he does o.k. with the other residents. It sounds like it could be a bit of a twilight zone if you know what I mean. I love the fact that the nurses are so caring. It's not easy to find that here in the states is it? Have a good day and glad you are feeling better!
