Spring Joy! (2014 - Blog #66)

Saturday, March 08, 2014

Seriously, what else is there to say when the sun shines through cherry blossoms.

I drove to my daughter's house in Portland today and marveled at the sun and the tree blossoms. I wanted to stop and take pictures but had to get her to the airport. After the rains and weird snows and cooler that normal January/February, today was simply JOY JOY JOY.

I like the winter. The cool temps feel good, challenging, invigorating. I had to learn to dress for cold and wet, but once I did, I learned to thrive in cold. That said, SPRING is sweet. I think it is even sweeter when you have had a hard winter. I am convinced that the blossoms are more plump, the colors more rich and the air more crisp after a long hard winter.

Is that how weight loss impacts us? After a long hard winter of the weight of weight, do we feel more invigorated by the JOY of the new spring in our step? For me, yeah :) And I really do not think it is only in my head. I appreciate my good health a lot more now that I jeopardized it once. The lightness I feel is sweeter than when I had good health and did not notice it as much.

Enjoy the SPRING in your step this weekend!

In 2005, I walked the basin in DC when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Absolutely beautiful site. Spring is sweet, and sweeter this year after a harsh winter. I cannot wait to see tulips in full bloom. Maybe I will plan a trip to the tulip fest in Holland Michigan this year....Hmmm. I cannot wait for spring to be in full mode.

Oh my where do you get your lovely quotes!!! The Da Vinci quote just sings to me.
Being on different coasts when you said Portland I thought of DownEast Maine! OOPS!
Love your attitude about the cold and wet. if you are prepared and dressed for it it can be invigorating. The only time I have found it isn't is during a heatwave. WE are human we can be flexible and adjust.

The lightness is sweeter for me too. It's so true, 'you don't know what you got 'til it's gone' ... Here's to lessons of life, the cycles, the seasons, the pure Joy of renewal!

Life is GOOD - Here's to LIVING it Gratefully!

Ooh, great picture this morning... love it!

"After a long hard winter of the weight of weight, do we feel more invigorated by the JOY of the new spring in our step? " Could not agree more... similar to my particular joy and gratitude in health after a side-trip into illness last week! emoticon

I do think we do indeed feel better when we are taking care of ourselves.
