Last night I stopped looking at the computer 2 hours before bedtime, and I stopped looking at my Kindle one hour before bedtime. I switched to a paper book. I wound up falling asleep an hour earlier than usual and slept 8.5 hours! I needed it.
Then today I saw someone posting about the National Day of Unplugging, where you turn off all computers, ipads, tablets, no texting, everything, from Friday at dusk until Saturday at dusk.
I Googled it (oh the irony!) and found this very entertaining and interesting video about Technology Shabbbat. I recommend it. Here's the link, check it OUT!
I'm going to do it. Sunset is at 6:35, so I darted in here to get this blog done.
I was talking about this with my husband and how I think the lit screens (even the Kindle) keeps me awake longer than I should be. But I like e-books! No piles of novels to try and get rid of.
He suggested I get the cheapest model of Kindle, the one without a light! Just the reader. I'm going to do it.
But for now, I've got art projects, a bag I'm crocheting for my upcoming vacation, and LOTS of housecleaning to do before it's time for the pet sitter to be here while we are gone. So a Technology Shabbat will be great it many ways.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. I know I will!
