Friday food answers

I have had the Pink Lady apples once before: at almost $3/lb, I bought ONE!!haha!!
This time around I went for the crunch as was suggested above. A very crisp, crunchy, juicy apple, but I love any apples.

The Lake perch are the epitome of fresh water fish in this world. Absolutely NO fish taste; if I had a penny for everyone I gutted and scaled with an old bottle cap on a stick, I could have retired years ago.. The best tasting ones are with the bones in, BUT the filets are so easy to eat!! the filets are also called butterflies because that is what the look like when they lie flat on the counter . Every Michigander worth their salt knows that the best thing to go with them is warm homemade bread, butter, coleslaw, and a slice of huckleberry pie with Schwans Ice cream on top! BUT nowadays the fish and slaw are the only things I do eat.. sometimes salad with it.

As far as the avocado goes, when you ate it with salt, you almost HAD guacamole`. Toss in some diced sweet onion and that is guacamole`! My ex is Hispanic, I learned how to cook all of the home-grown dishes from his family.

I think I will add some leftover veggies to my soups from now on,, I do add some diced onion to mine once in awhile..

One dish i have not tried yet, but many on my diabetes team have , is mashed cauliflower to replace whipped potatoes.. Sounds good..

I am sticking close to home this weekend.. too cold to go far.. I hope you all have a safe, healthy weekend.. Prayers to you and yours for that.

My favourite apples are pink lady. I've been thinking about the mashed cauliflower. I always use leftover veg in soups, very economical and very filling.

next time you have a craving for apples, try Stayman, they're crunchy & just a little tart, but then just a little sweet, love them
