3/7/14 food

Friday, March 07, 2014

Well food can definately be an enemy can't it? When you don't provide yourself the opportunity to eat healthy, how can you? So this weekend it is my goal to purge my kitchen, and make a trip to the grocery store for healthy items. We've been a little lazy this week, and instead of cooking, we have been ordering out. I guesstimated 4000 calories for me yesterday, and 6000 for my husband. I shouldn't be guesstimating, but I am good at counting calories (I know just about what is in every cheeseburger/salad/pizza/roll for every fast food and full service restaurant in town). Today it is supposed to hit 40 degrees, so I am looking forward to a walk on lunch. Starting the day with water, grits, and a prayer. I hope everyone is safe and happy. We can only get there with steps that are progress... and for me, just logging in, and drinking water, are two big steps. :)

Wow! I see a lot of celebration coming your way. Planning, purging your kitchen, a trip to the grocery store for healthy items. Awesome! Hope you find wonderful recipes for your cooking and do double batches. My favorite healthy meal is chicken cacciatore over multigrain pasta with a side salad and fruit for a snack. Easy with BS chicken, jarred sauce fresh mushrooms and chopped veggies in a slow cooker. Big healthy portions and yummy. Let me know what you cook.
Since you've been eating so many daily calories, maybe you could plan for a step down week in a higher calorie range. Cutting back closer to 2,000 calories a day would put you in a non-gain non-lose week but might make it easier to get going. Remember to buy things to make the water a treat and not a chore. I love fresh lemon and those tea flavorings.
Make sure you buy some convenience foods like pre-cooked rotisserie chicken and mashed potatoes or pre-cooked chicken strips and bagged salad with a low cal dressing for those nights when you don't want to cook. I love the pre-cooked brown rice pouches, individual cheese sticks and pre-bagged baby carrots.
Hey, you've got me excited! Make it a great weekend!
