Week After Surgery

Thursday, March 06, 2014

Well, it is 10 days after torn meniscus repair knee surgery. I am able to walk without a cane now. I was only on the crutch for 3 days. Yesterday I went without a cane, though I use it when I am tired or if I go out. My doctor said to weight bear as tolerated.

My knee still aches quite a bit. I am icing it every couple of hours and keeping it elevated. It is still swollen twice the size of my other knee. Plus it is very bruised all the way around above and below.

I am doing seven physical exercises my doctor gave me to do at home. It takes about 30 minutes to get through all of them. He also said I could try the stationary bike 10 days after surgery. I went to the gym tonight to try, but I couldn't because I couldn't bend the knee. I think this is something I will have to wait to do until the swelling has gone down!

I have been very busy this week with my daycare. I started back up with the kids a couple days after surgery

I also finished a couple of more memory quilt tops. I named them Mahan Pumpkin Farm 1 & 2.
I will be showing all the quilt tops to my aunts & uncles on Saturday night. They will pick which one they want and I will start to quilt them.

I haven't really been able to concentrate on weight loss, but my real focal point now is my knee healing.

Thanks for all my SP friends support and encouragement!!!!!!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Carrie, I'm glad you're getting better. I know you're doing your best with that knee and I know you have to take of your day care kids (incl. your own grands), but I wonder if you activity, though limited, may still be too much for the swelling to go down much. Glad you are doing that quilting as it gives you time off the legs. Do you have the weekends off from baby sitting? I know you're anxious to get back to exercise, but you really need to get that knee back to it's proper size And you don't want cellulitis to set in. It would be an additional set back.
I don't blame you not worrying about wt.loss right now. Just take care that you don't cave to the "comfort" foods. You don't want too much catching up to do when you're back on track.
Please don't feel like I'm judging or criticizing, Carrie. I just care, really. Only want the very best for you!! You are my hero!! So rest up that knee, get healed up and then it'll be ready, set, GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Love ya, Carrie!! Spark on!! (((HUGS)))

I hope your knee heals quickly but it sounds like you are making the most of your downtime! That is wonderful that you'll have the company of your grands to enjoy at this time of healing! You are doing awesome!!
Stay Positive,

Jes
