Being Free of Superwoman

Wednesday, March 05, 2014

The biggest blessing of my cancer experience is the realization that there are no rewards in trying to be superwoman who can do everythings and take care of everyone. I am more of a realist now.

It is such a relief to allow myself time to take a needed nap. I have friends who reach out and help. I have a former student who took care of my property in all the snowstorms. I have cut some appointments and responded with no as an answer when asked to do something I'd rather not do.

I am taking time to get better, to rest, to exercise and to cook properly. The cat loves our playtimes.

I feel really free!

Though it is hard we all have to admit sometimes we just can't do it all and let it go or find the help. I'm glad you won't be wearing yourself out trying to do it all.

emoticon emoticon You are so wise.

My RA has led me to see my limitations as a means to depending more on God, asking for His will for me and the strength to carry it out. I know I am not all-powerful or in charge!

It's amazing what can happen when we really take care of ourselves like you are. It's also wonderful when we can get to the point to ask for help and get it. I'm praying recovery for you!!
