Hi everyone, another productive day.

Tuesday, March 04, 2014

I have organized our DGD bedroom. It is going to work well. She has a computer desk, she is home schooled. I was able to empty a four drawer chest of drawers for her. All empty so t is all hers. I have lots of books on the shelves. Almost all kids books but she needs shelves for her own books too. That us available. It is a big room and she has a queen bed to herself.
She is on the first floor and it is a very pleasant room. When she was here in August she was sleeping on a floor futon. She really liked it so I have left the firm mattress there for her.
When the moving van gets here they will unload her piano, a recliner for our DIL to sit in , Our son is a floor person. They are also leaving their Queen mattress and box so there is no need to get anything else out at this time. We will evaluate the storage needs and the expense and then we might bring the load to our 2 car garage. It is all up to them.
It's their lives and DH and I do not butt in. We prefer it that way.
I noticed my beloved rail trail s free of ice so I am hoping to be able to get in a nice 4 mile walk. We have not walked in a long while, two weeks I have been using the gazelle I much rather feel the soles of my feet pounding the pavement. It is a good substitute but the strides are very rarely counted so it gets complicated.

Tonight I am definitely ready to sleep. After talking a lot last night it was late to bed and very difficult to stay asleep.
I had a dentist visit this morning and the afternoon we had our taxes done by the accountant. I moved books and book shelves in the am.

I went to the Dentist at 1 p.m. accountant at 4 pm. I had made dinner yesterday for today so I was able to get back to it and now it is looking better.
Tomorrow the basement. We have to change the locks because they have not been used enough and so DH says we need to put new ones on.

Finally I have to hem three pairs of new pants for myself and then I will move my big machines in to the wash room.
I have a US blind stitch machine that was the backbone of my business and that will have to be moved when our son gets here. He was supposed to be here before the movers but now he will not be around to give the details.
We have been warned the driver is not a very nice person . I hope the man was only having a bad day.
I know he will have a fit when he sees the narrow driveway and the utility pole on one side and a rock wall on the other. It is a 90 degree corner and the drive curves but the moving van does not.
I am not truly wanting to be there but it is what it is.
The piano will be in the upstairs dining room so it will have to go round the block to the back door and in to a Cul de sac. As I sit here and write I realized we have a massive snow pile before our curved driveway at the back That is where the PIANO has to go. Oh My it will not be a very easy drop.
I figure they must frequently have a difficult drop. I am yawning and I am off to my bed.
Thanks for caring Spark friends Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Pat. how are the travels going for your family? I agree with Genie....have something for them to win the delivery folks over. Hoping all goes well and they don't have a problem. Sounds like things are under control and pretty much ready for all to arrive. Hope you're getting some good nights sleep during all this moving. Take care.

I hope everything goes well. As others have mentioned, a nice tip and a snack or drinks usually makes a delivery person more congenial.

I have just finished taking down my Mardi Gras decorations and put them all away. House looks odd as it has been since September that I had some type of decorations up (Fall, then Halloween, then Thanksgiving, Christmas and Mardi Gras). Nothing going back until week of Easter. For Lent I keep things simple. Also helps with the Spring Cleaning as everything is down so there is less to move for dusting the high areas.

I am itching to put some spring/summer veggies into the ground, but we had two more nights of freezing temps these last 2 days. Our normal last frost day is March 15th, but our typical last frost is in late February. This has been one of the coldest, wettest, and sleetest winters in my memory. Weatherman says it is in the top 10 coldest on record since mid- 1800's. Most of my winter veggies didn't do well. Green onions, lettuces and cabbages did okay as did some herbs. Cauliflower not so good. Oh well, maybe it will be better with the spring/summer veggies.

    Take Care.

You are doing great. I gave our movers cookies when they came and offered coffee or lemonade. One of them just wanted water.
I know moving a piano is a pain, sure hope some snow melts quickly.
My taxes are now with the Tax preparer. I no longer do my own. Steve and I used to do it together, but now I have mine with widow's benefits and head of household because of Erik, I have Erik's and the trust fund for Erik has to have a return done too. It's easier to pay someone to do it, especially since I have to verify stuff with the judge.

We had a similar delivery issue when my electric fireplace was delivered. The delivery man was complaining about the long winding driveway but softened up when I gave him a $20 tip! Good luck with all the upcoming changes.

Also, what is a gazelle? I've seen you mention it several times but I've never heard of that piece of exercise equipment.

    Stay warm--

Wow! You are really making progress! Lots of work getting ready. I don't think I would want to deal with that driver after he sees the situation! emoticon

Wow! A lot done, my friend!

I was able to get outside and walk up and down our side street yesterday afternoon; there is still ice/snow on the neighborhood streets, though. Today I will walk in the hallways at school, and then tomorrow DH and I plan to leave for FL.

So looking forward to walking outside too. You have done a lot of work getting your home ready for a new requirement. My DD is moving back home for a while she won't have a roommate to help with the rent. Have to reorganize her old room too.
Hope all goes well with the mover. I have moved pianos too. They are quite the unwieldy instrument. With the right equipment and muscle it can be done.

What a hectic day, but you got a ton of things done. You must have a vast library as I've heard you say you got rid of some books last year I believe too. I'm a book lover too but all to often I get lost in them and don't get anything else done but read.....

I too had a grumpy mover when I came out here from MN. He hated bringing all my stuff up to my 2nd story condo at the time. We had him call his company for extra help. I did tip him REALLY good emoticon so he felt better when he was leaving.

PS: Cookies also help when he first gets there and a bag of them to go! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds like you are all set and ready for the family to arrive. Please don't let the movers give you a bad time. You don't deserve to be treated that way at all. Is there anyway that the delivery from the movers could wait a few days til your son is there? I hope that you can get to walk outside some too. That would help too. Take Care. Lots of Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad you are going to be able to walk outside again. I'm looking forward to that as well.

Hi Pat~~ emoticon in getting all organized!

Alex & I do our own taxes here on a free tax program from our gov't. We have them done except to recheck each others. They are not due in till April 30th so we are waiting to netfile them later as we both owe the Revenu office money. No sense giving it to them early eh?

I also do a few other peoples taxes for that is where I will go next. The young man brought me his last piece of paper I needed to do his so I think I will get at his...his wife's....and his mother's this week.

Alex & I are going to his Oath for Canadian Citizenship next week ( March 11th ) He will then have two passports ( British & Canadian ) He is not sure what will happen if Scotland ends up separating...says he will cross that bridge if & when it happens!
