What is it about the weekends

Monday, March 03, 2014

that cause me to "loose control" with eating and not track?! I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that our Weight Watchers topic was how to "manage the weekends". There were several good suggestions (none of which I used) and the leader even gave an example of how a person that takes 7 steps instead of 5 will get to their "destination" quicker - meaning if you track 7 days a week instead of 5, you will loose weight quicker!

At least I was very active over the weekend! DD#1 had to pick me up at work and take me to get my car at the shop. As soon as we got home, I had to take out the puppy and then pick up DD#2 from volleyball weight training. She and a bunch of friends were going out to eat at a restaurant that one of their friends just got a job as a hostess. Since she still needed to shower before I picked up one of the girls and then took them to the restaurant, DD#3 and I decided to take the puppy and dog to the park so she could run - she's still keeping up with the running even though she didn't make track!

We don't usually take the dog, but the puppy does better on a leash when she has to keep up with another dog. DD#3 went to the track to run and then met us at the greenway. We probably got in a 1+ mile walk. We had Subway for dinner and I did pretty well on Friday.

I made pancakes again on Saturday morning and of course ate too many (and didn't track). DH wanted to get the yard raked over the weekend because it was supposed to rain Sunday night (making the leaves very heavy to rake). We have a very large "yard" - over 2 acres and it's mostly covered with trees (that are always dropping something!). We ended up raking/hauling leaves for over 4 hours on Saturday (I'm still sore!). We got it done and the yard looks great! You can finally see all the grass from the seeding & fertilizing we did in early fall. Since I was so tired - I really over ate on Saturday. I don't even know what I had, but pizza, chips and a big bowl of frozen yogurt was consumed!

Sunday was an absolutely gorgeous day! It got up to the mid-70's! DD#2, DD#3 & friend, puppy and my sister and I went to a trail that is by a river to play on the rocks and get in some hiking. The puppy didn't really like the water yet, but she's young and it was really cold water (although the girls did wade in the water - brrr!). DD#2, sister, puppy and I hiked the trail that went up the "side of the mountain". I've done this trail before and I thought it was little over a mile. DD#3 and friend didn't want to go, so they were going to meet us back by the car in 40 mins. (figuring that would give us plenty of time!). It was a really hard trail and we did stop a few times to let puppy & DD#2 play, but it took us over an hour! We also ended up back at a different place than the last time I hiked it, so we must have taken a different trail. When I got back home I looked up the trail and it was 2.9 miles of pretty hilly terrain.

I did better with the eating Sunday night - we grilled out turkey burgers and fixings and I didn't snack the rest of the night (after my Weight Watchers ice cream bar).

So we'll see on Wednesday if my weekend did any damage again. I'm going to set some March goals after my weigh in on Wednesday.

After this weekend, I'm so looking forward to spring -- but it rained today and is bringing in a cold front!
