Lunch on the back patio

Monday, March 03, 2014

We have unseasonably warm weather here in sunny Sonora, Mexico. The old timers are saying that they never seen it this warm and apparently it is the warmest winter in 50 years. I love it but it could mean a bad storm season late summer with the water being warmer than usual as well :(
For now we are enjoying the nice weather and when it isn't too windy we have lunch out on the back patio. Some days it would be impossible to keep the lettuce on the plate LOL

This was my lunch yesterday: leftover grilled chicken and the chopped salad with beets, spinach and avocado.

It was a beautiful afternoon and when the shade moved around the front of the house I sat outside there for a bit and all of a sudden this guy caught my eye:

Tree maintenance! A brave guy climbing that tall tree!!

Later that afternoon we went to a housewarming party, lots of food, all the usual potluck stuff and I must admit that none of it looked appetizing to me. It does make me realize why I used to dread gettogethers like this - the food is nowhere near healthy :( Even the desserts didn't appeal to me.
How life has changed!! Now we eat before going to functions like this and feel so much better for it.

I haven't made any progress with my weight loss in about 2 weeks and I am ready to kick start the process. Mel and I are starting with day1 of the Plan again tomorrow and I am really looking forward to it. I love having a set menu - makes meal planning so much easier and I am less likely to add things I shouldn't :)

Wow, you make that salad and chicken look so good even a beef lover would go for it. I knew the weather was nice in Mexico -- wasn't aware they had much wind. We have similar weather here in the Phoenix area, but you'd better be ready to move when summer strikes.

Are there many English speaking people around you -- or are you fluent in Spanish?
Hugs, Eve

Set meal plans help me too. Unfortunately, I only have time for them when school is not in session.
