is it worth it?

Monday, March 03, 2014

I went 2.5 weeks without sugars or gluten. then Friday rolls around and my fiance brought home sicilian pizza from our favorite place and DQ Blizzards. I had a food hangover on Saturday and felt like complete CRAP. I had anxiety and ridiculous anger and could only contribute it to the crap I put in my body.

So NOT worth it.

Still today on Monday I am bloated and feeling sluggish. That junk food is NOT worth it and I know I can find healthier alternatives. It takes effort and its not something to just pick up (ahh the convenience of take-out) but I know it will be worth it.

Why is it so easy to forget that terrible, heavy feeling and the recriminations that go along with it? Those food hangovers are the worst, and seem even harder to get over when I've been away from the bad stuff for a while. I hope you were able to get back on track quickly!

I was reminded of this blog post after going out to eat last night. I didn't even eat actual junk food, just pasta with a heavy alfredo sauce, and I felt like I had a belly full of lead the rest of the night!

It's amazing how quickly the body reacts to "junk" food after eating only real healthy food for a while!

It's really NOT worth it! And fruit really does taste like candy if you aren't eating other processed sugars!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

If you like bananas I have a great sub you can use for "ice cream" and a good pizza recipe too that I use:)

I don't have beef not because I can't eat it but because of my husbands belief system so when we do go out and I have it especially ground beef man do my guts hurt and then add all the greasiness from the restaurant...plain well equals bad combo for me. I do feel way better when I eat healthier and my joints really tell me.

I totally feel your pain. With mindful eating I don't limit or restrict any certain food but the past week or two I've been letting more junk creep in blaming it on ppl's birthday's Valentine's Day, having a little piece of candy at work, my sister visiting, wedding cake taste testing, etc. Definitely don't feel good after I eat it and certainly not eating any of it because I'm hungry. Got to get back on the horse. It's a constant area of practice but we're in it together. :)

I had a really similar experience on Friday! I ate Wendys... which I NEVER do... and I felt awful afterwards. I guess it is sort of like that cliche - you can't appreciate the sunshine without a little rain? You don't realize how good you have it until BAM you eat junk and it reminds you why you made that change and don't do that kind of thing anymore!

Eesh, that sounds absolutely horrible. It really does suck when you go so long without it then boom! You have it and it makes you feel like absolute poo for a few days. While it may taste good at the time, I agree with you, it's not worth it in the end. Hopefully you start feeling better soon!
