It Turned Out OK

Sunday, March 02, 2014

Family dinner went well. Turns out my sister wasn't surprised either about our nephew. And she also thinks it is great that he found someone. Now we just need to get his mother on board too. Crisis diverted.

Before everyone arrived I managed to get in 10,000 steps. I have committed to 500,000 steps this month so I need to be more consistent with my 20,000 step days. So after everyone left I went downstairs and popped in a Bob Newhart Show DVD and got busy. I was at 18,990 and running out of steam. But I told myself I was too close to give up so I switched to something else briefly and kept stepping and before I knew it I was done.

Also at dinner I had a small amount of turkey. This is the first time I've had anything other than occasional fish since starting on ETL. I have been so good too even when eating out I steer clear of animal products. And now my stomach is killing me. I feel sick and I'm figuring it is my body's way of saying I screwed up by eating that turkey. Back to a stricter program tomorrow.

Also started lifting weights again today. It was fun.

I hope he is strong enough to weather any storms from family members. In this day and age it is easier for one to come out than say 30 years ago.

My not wanting to marry or have children was taken by my family members worse than if I had told them I was gay, and not very well, which I'm not.

It's great that the meal tuned out fine, and I'm so glad things went easily with your sister. His mother, being more emotionally involved, may take longer to process it. If she never suspected it, it changes all her expectations - grandchildren etc.

The number of steps you do is great! Way beyond what I'm managing. Really interesting about eating the turkey, too.

    Have a great week!
